New release. Changed name from Exotic Orange due to Govt Regs. Packaging- Rattrays ups the game on packaging. Embossed printed rectangular tin with printed interior plastic holder and printed sealing stamp. Loose ribbon cut. Very Classy 👍. nose- Marmalade and dried fruits comes immediately to mind with a Virginia finish. Room note- According to the GF. It stinks. I think it's quite nice. Strength- Subdued. No mouth bite. Easy. Taste- The orange on the first puff is a very strong think smoking dried orange peels. This Falls off very quickly and becomes a high quality Virginia with a orange aftertaste. Floral honey notes permeate the bowl. Enjoyable throughout the bowl and burns without any wetness. Another great Tobacco from Rattrays who is among my top providers who do not compromise on quality.

I've read great things about it, culminating in your fine review. But I've given up trying to find some online within the U.S. to buy. Rare as unicorn's teeth, for me.

I've only seen it once on Pipestud's consignment shop; it sold out quickly.

Great review. The original Exotic Orange tin cannot be cellared. It must be jarred.

I ordered a tin from Germany for $42. I smoked several bowls and sent the rest in a trade box. It is like smoking potpourri. Zero tobacco flavor, and not really anything I could identify as fruit.

I have to go with Ron on this one. I have some of the original in jars and will part company if anybody else wants the experience and will pay shipping costs; otherwise, it's trash can action here.
Not to cut on those who prefer it. It simply doesn't agree with my own palate. YMMV

Every pipe smoker will have different tastes due to Ph and palate preference. Definitely not knocking any pipe smoker that enjoys the new release. Of course I MUCH prefer the Rattray’s blends when made in Scotland and were the 4 .oz tins.......exquisite blends👌👍👍

Nice review.
For some reason this isn't even available in the UK. I've no idea why, but it would be one I would like to try.
At the minute mclintock orange dream is the best orange flavour tobacco I've tried.

I was gifted a sealed generous sample of the original and I have not gathered the nerve to open it. I have never like fruit-flavored blends. I've tried many over the years and they just aren't for me. Since it was a gift, though, I feel obligated to give this one a shot. I'll build the nerve eventually. 😁

I smoked a tin of that several years ago. Didn't care for it much. TOO floral. And chemical at the bottom of the smoke.

May be the same item is available through K&K with a slightly different name.

I just got some of the new stuff and tried it for the first time this last weekend. I did enjoy it. It definitely has a strong orange taste that last most of the bowl. A strong aftertaste as well. I couldn't make out the mango or passion fruit. I did get a little sweetness from the maple.
It should be jarred right away. The tin is not sealed and the tobacco is in a plastic bag inside. I could smell the orange before I opened the tin. Not sure if I got some bad tins or that is part of the new packaging.
I'll bring some to Saturday's pipe club meeting for anyone that wants to try it in Mesa, Az.

Thanks to @10furlongs , I got my opportunity to try Rattways Exotic Orange. For me, its not too bad. I love oranges and really citrus in general and as a part of tobacco, I know I can find it interesting. I say “can find it interesting” because the only other blends I have in my cellar with orange in them is Dan Tobacco’s Buddies and Cornell & Diehl's Jolly Old Saint Nicholas. Buddies needs to be mixed with something else because on its own, its like smoking Tang or any other orange powder drink. It’s really an “in your face” kind of blend and not one I like without mixing it with something else. Jolly Old Saint Nicholas on the other hand is not bad. Its more light on the orange and not over kill in my opinion. Either way though, one has to like aromatics to like either of them.
Rattways Exotic Orange I find is a bit in between these two blends. The tin note is pretty strong and you smell that orange right away. Taking a moment to analyze a few sniffs of the tin you can pick up other things as well, namely a hint of floral but not like a Lakeland. Any tobacco smell is really not there so it was surprising to find that once I lit up a bowl the strength of the aromatics cut down quite a bit. Enough to where I can start to taste a bit of tobacco. It truly needs to be lightly sipped or it just has a more burning taste to it and for me, the light tobacco mixed with orange and other flavors is not bad but certainly not for everyone. It burned well and I was able to smoke about 80% of the bowl before the flavors were just not good anymore.
Over all, I’ll keep this is my cellar and smoke it from time to time. I plan to enjoy it on a nice spring morning with a glass of orange juice to start my day as I also start my smoker up to make some good BBQ. I don’t think its worth paying too much for or seeking it out like one would a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. If I run across it for sale I’d add another tin or so to my cellar but I’m not going out of my way for it.
And happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

Some of the Peterson blends are not sealed....the Summertime blends for instance. JD at Country Squire Podcast spoke some time back of another tobacco producer that sells unsealed tins, just a closed tin with tobacco in the cellophane....I wish I could remember who he was talking about.

If it's in a decorator tin and wrapped in cellophane, it is likely produced by K&K. Why such a quality manufacturer omits to seal their tins has always baffled me.

Exotic Orange is manufactured by K&K. Solani's 100g tins are packaged similarly but with a hinged lid. I've questioned a few companies regarding the lack of air tight seals and was told that their intent was immediate consumption of the tobacco. Cellaring wasn't something they intended on.
