Let me preface this by saying that I very rarely drink soda. Coke, Pepsi, DP, and the like are far too sweet for my tastes.
That being said, I have made my own soda on occasion and really enjoyed it. Does anybody else have experience making soda?

We had a soda making machine but we were always out of the makings. New York seltzer is not as sweet as some of the premade cans of death by sugar.

I like to make those old 1950s chocolate sodas. I use chocolate syrup, seltzer water, **milk**, and two scoops of vanilla ice cream.
Another thing I like to do is mix seltzer water with Ribena blackcurrant drink. Very good!

I love bubbles in my water and drink either carbonated water or flavored carbonated water. A regular cola or the likes, I drink at times but some simple carbonated water with natural flavoring unsweetened is great in my book.
I used a Soda Stream for about eight years and it worked well. After my local CO2 supplier was constantly out, I decided to give it up as other means were not as cheap.
Now I buy various brands with Clear American Unsweetened from Walmart being the usual.
Drinking it while smoking a a pipe though doesnt work well for me. It really bites/burns me hard so if I'm drinking water with a pipe, its the plain stuff for my mouth.

Ward's Drugstore counter. 2 pumps of Coca Cola syrup into a glass filled 3/4 full of ice. Carbonated water to fill. Insert straw and stir lightly. Cherry or vanilla syrup on request.

I remember sodastream. I tried carbonating everything I could.
