So, I bought 2oz. of Sutliff Red Ribbon, which is plain old red Virginia. It arrived fairly dry. Drier than 515 RC-1. I smoked a bowl, and it was good, mild stuff. I decided to stove the rest, with the exception of about two bowls worth. It got a bit darker. I haven't smelled it yet, to see what kind of a difference it made, since the Mason jar is now sealed. I'm leaving this here to follow up in two weeks when I open it.

Yeah, I was thinking of getting some Sutliff 507s Stoved Black Virginia, and mixing some in. What do people use for a good blending Burley and a Perique? I haven't delved into this arena yet...

I use it in a milder mixture that I dubbed Codger's Trifecta. In equal 1/3's: Red Ribbon, J-4 Burley and 212 Burley Delight. Been on the shelf for a year or more and may have to sample some now that you jogged my memory.

It’s not bad, but I find 515 RC-1 to be superior.

Meant to revisit this. Red Ribbon is a pretty mild, straight Red Virginia. Stoving it brought out some breadiness and sweetness that we're subdued before. I actually really like this stoved. It's a blend I can smoke all the time. It's kind of like if Carter Hall were Red Virginia. I'd definitely recommend it if you're just looking for something simple with good natural tobacco flavor.

That sounds great! I wouldn't mind trying my hand at stoving something.
