...recently posted on another contract carrier here on the 'Patch, no need to go into it again...
I, myself, was a contract delivery carrier for Amazon... the last job I had... and I took it seriously, because folks deserve to get the stuff they ordered and paid for, and because the pay was great.

Oh no, now I feel bad about my thread... ...lol, not at all, man... that was your genuine experience, and you had a right to be pissed off... no delivery service is perfect, and s*** happens...

Ranting off on forums about something ordered, or bought is bad form to do off the bat. It is always good to give the shipper the opportunity to address the issue and make it right.
But this thread isn’t about blaming the person you conducted business with, it is about what happened after it left their control, and holey smokes, look at this!
Yeah... that’s a holey smokes, or maybe unholey now.....

Have bought tobacco and pipes by mail for over 50 years now and never had anything like that delivered by USPS. Many of my UPS and DHL deliverys arrived like that especially from DHL. JMHE

If the images are correct and there is no other packing material, it's on the seller. I can guess who it is by the way it's packed, as I have had several of those before giving up on them. You can't expect a half empty box to hold up in stacking. Again, it hinges on "if" that was all that was in the box

No reason the shipper would worry about re-packing correctly. Pitiful, just pitiful.

I've never had problems with USPS, I'll keep my fingers crossed. Only issue I ever had with either UPS or Fedex was on some rare occasions, delays. Never received a damaged box. I feel bad for those that do. Ruins all the anticipation built up. Can only be frustrated and angry.
