I really enjoy the McClelland Anniversary 2017 tobacco blend. Label says it is a North Carolina Red Virginia broken flake. Can anyone recommend a tobacco that comes close in bothy type of Virginia and the fact that it is a flake or broken flake? Preferably from Cornell & Diehl or GL Pease, but I'm open if its right. I long to have a supply of tobacco that smells like ketchup.

Have you tried Sutliff 515 RC-1? Excellent choice 👍. I have some jarred, aging a bit longer. A blend from C&D that’s a FABULOUS blend, I’m not comparing to McC Anniversary but it’s a MUST try I think you’ll get hooked!!! Red Odessa.......outstanding blend. I'll try that one as well. Thanks! |

Nothing like McClelland Virginias. It was more about Mike and Mary's process than it was anything. One of those better to have loved and lost kinda things.

Are you referring to 40th Anniversary or Anniversary 2017?
If 40th Anniversary, then I think 515 RC and C&D's Carolina Red Flake are good tobaccos to try. If 2017, then I don't know offhand because that blend has Latakia.

I bought 5 lbs. of 515 and enjoy it now and have a bunch to age. |

Seeing McClelland's end early on with how CC 2016 and 2017 were released, I went on a buying spree when 40th Anniversary first became available. Ended up with 20 tins, and have yet to finish the first one.  |

Red Odessa is a Latakia blend, so isn't going to scratch the same itch. Sutliff Crumble Kake Red Virginia might be closer that 515 because it's a semi-flake. I haven't tried it yet, but it has stellar reviews so far (including 4* from JimInks). |
