Just got back from Longview, Texas. Visited my daughter and her family and found a place to live. Moving in May. Found Tobacco Junction with limited choices of pipe tobacco. Guess I will need to find some good pipe shops in Texas. Any suggestions?

I have been to that store. Not a great selection. They had a store in Dallas called Up In Smoke that was great. I stopped by my last time there in December and they had closed down. That is how I ended up at Tobacco Junction. I think your best bet is going to be on-line retailers.

Not that it's possible you're any paler than myself. El Paso was a death sentence for my Anglo-Saxon arse...

😂😂 I'm half Brazilian, so I might do OK... I'm also half Irish (mum is ginger with pale skin) so I won't get cocky.

Just messing around on GoogleMaps and it looks like you're driving to Dallas if you wanna visit a B&M. Looks like most shops in Longview are just head shops or selling cigarettes.
None the less. Hope your move goes well!

Phantomwolf, is that a new avatar? Big thumbs up on the beard, man.

Good luck on the move. If you like BBQ Ribs, the Country Tavern, west of Kilgore, has some of the best you will ever eat. I hear the rest of their BBQ is good, but I've never had anything but the ribs.

Texas is a great place to be movin to. Great food, great people, next to Seattle it is the place I'd want to be. Not sure Seattle is all that great anymore...lived there over 20 years ago..loved the place...food, coffee, people and topography...wake up every morning and seeing the mountain...very spiritual, loved that place.
Good luck with your move!!

Longview is a good place. I spent a lot of time growing up in Kilgore. Tyler, Marshall, Jefferson, all make the region interesting. You can never do everything there is to do in that corner of the state. Great people too!

Ronv’s Cellar would be a good place to anchor in.... offer to house sit.

Tobacco Cabana in Cedar Hill (south Dallas) is a must visit. The owner's really knowledgable and friendly. While he has a couple hundred pipes, the only tobacco he sells he blends himself. Might as well retell the dog story.
He went down the street to get a haircut and left the dog in charge. Except, he really did. When he got back he had little notes: I got two ounces of this and two ounces of that, here's a twenty. Said folks made change in the change drawer and everything.
Another thing I like is all prices end in even dollars or fifty cents, and tax is included. That is, if a pipe's marked forty bucks, you give him a couple of twenties and he gives you the pipe. Wish everyone would do that. Here's his website: Tobacco Cabana

Ha!! The authorities asked me to leave Longview back in 1998. They said “please”, so I honor their request.

I've tried to leave several times, There must be something I'm supposed to accomplish here because life hasn't let me stay away. It's not a bad place but I'm not a big city kind of guy, even though I grew up here. I prefer the quiet, with scarcity of humans. Longview is probably a bit quieter than DFW though. Enjoy the new digs, and hope you get settled in nicely.

Enjoy the new digs, and hope you get settled in nicely. All those east Texas towns are booming. Oil is back big time and they are saying that they can extract more oil from the Kilgore field than they have in the past 100 years. This supports every other kind of business and they have a pretty decent infrastructure. Still, radically different from Dallas but only an hour or two away. Also short trip to Shreveport if you want seafood or gambling or Denim Springs for Klan meetings if you are into that kind of thing.
