Here's my famous person story. I was with a buddy at a sports bar in Dallas uptown watching the playoff hockey on the big tv, when in walks Mike Modano. He sits at the other end of the bar and my buddy pays for his drink. He says 'thanks man', and comes over to talk. My idiot friend asks if he watches playoff hockey. He gets a weird look on his face, and says very slowly, 'Yes...I do', then goes and sits at the other end of the bar. Thanks Tim, you moron.

Tim earned that.
Bruce Springsteen was pretty much an ahole, the rest of the band was cool....John Madden was really nice, as was Bill Walsh, Joe Montana, Dwight Clark, Dwight Hicks, Clark, Steve Bono, Bubba Paris, etc....The meat company I worked for back in the day was the official meat supplier of Certified Angus Beef for the 49ers, back when they were great....Springsteen encounter was when I drove on the tour.
Later worked for a foodservice distrubutor and at a food show met Chef Paul Prudhomme and Dom Deluise at the same time....pretty funny pair...they caricatured each other....they could pass for brothers.
As a kid I met Ken Curtis, and Ray Price at the little britches rodeo. Ran into Nancy Kulp (Miss Hathaway Beverly Hillbillies), at a southern Ca. restaurant on a layover in the 80's...nice lady.

When the owner of the Stars (hockey) bought the Rangers (baseball), he held a Stars meeting party for season ticket holders at the ballpark. Pretty canny of him to get a bunch of rich people to the ballpark. We got to get autographs (boring) and a free Coke and hotdog. We walk out to the stands to eat our hot dog and notice the gate to go down on the field was open. There were a bunch of kids running around the bases and we just walked out to our dugout.
Then we found out the owner was giving us free rein of the ballpark. We went in the locker room, found an exercise room, went in the owner's box, anywhere we wanted to go. It was way more cool than standing in a line to get an autograph.
PS I'm glad I didn't have to meet the 49ers back when they were mortal enemies

Just remembered another famous person story. My sister and brother-in-law used to be extras on Walker Texas Ranger. They said Chuck Norris was really cool and would hang out with the extras at lunch. Nia Peeples was also cool, but had to wear huge heels because she was so short.

Great stories, thanks for sharing!
I use to work at MSG, Suite 200 here in the Big Apple back in the early 90's as a caterer during the Nicks and Ranger games and special events and concerts. Suite 200 was only for the top VIP's like Jack Nicholson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, movie stars, sports stars, CEO's etc... and was mostly a secret. Suite 200 had its own full staffed 5 star kitchen, security and room staff. So you can imagine all the famous folks I encountered while working there. One of the more memorable famous encounters was when I was working the floor or room during a event at the Paramount Theater. I had a basket of mini croissants and as I was making my way through the star studded crowd when Muhammad Ali gave me the look, I walked over to him and was about to offer him a croissants when he just stuck his hand into the basket and grabbed a a hand full and then gave me a smile. I thought that was pretty damn cool! I gave him a nod and went on my way.

Great stories, thanks for sharing 👌👍. David, as an avid hockey fan I most likely would have shot Tim, then bought him him a drink.

I could have watched a hockey game with Mike freakin' Modano. I wore his dadgum jersey. I will never forgive Niewendyk for not even offering Mo a contract his last year in the league.

I was listening to a podcast the other day, and they were talking about Muhammad Ali on an airplane flight once...
Flight attendant: You need to buckle our seatbelt sir.
Muhammad: Superman don't need no seatbelt.
Flight Attendant: Superman don't need no airplane either.
Quick witted gal.

many moons ago used to winter in Lauderdale & caddy at RollingHills CC resort outside of Davie. My turn came up, one in the 4-some the scraggliest lookin' guy I ever seen. Had a cart, all I had to do was hand him the putter, rake sandtraps (often). Wornout sneakers, yesterday's white tee-shirt, ill fitting madras shorts, large belly, no golf glove, ragtag set of about 11 clubs. At least 4-day beard, really friendly, noticed hands size of lumberjacks, missing couple teeth, possibly broke 100. Pressed a $50 in my hand just for running his clubs to front door. Biggest tip I ever got.
Rocky Marciano!
