Just got back from a fantastic trip to the smokies. Had a great cabin with a multitude of comfortable porch spots to enjoy a smoke (as well as the hot tub). I packed a variety of aro's for the trip since I would be smoking in company (wife, kids, brother in law) and didn't want to get chased off the porch. I packed, MB Vanilla Creme, Cult Abacus, Sutliff Molto Dolce, Autumn Eve. I always have SWRA and Erin Go Bragh with me (yes they are technicall aro's as well but closer to non-aro's than any of the aforementioned blends).
With the exception of one bowl of EGB, I stuck to the heavier aro's the whole time. I highly enjoyed each and every bowl and had compliments from my family. I think I hit Molto Dolce the most as it just delivers bounties of its great flavors and I couldn't get enough of it (even mixed it once with a pinch of SWRA for a toned down version).
I do like aro's but they did get a little boring by the end of the trip.
Having said that, my morning commute this morning with a bowl of Davidoff Flake Medallions was utterly sublime. Fun trip, but glad to be back with all my cellar options at hand.

Sounds like you had a blast. I've yet to have a pipe in a hot tub. Maybe some day...

If you like Molto Dolce try Sutliff Creme Brulee in bulk. I am pretty sure it's the same as Molto Dolce and cheaper.

Yep, I have heard that and was waiting to give Molto Dolce its true test of at least a few bowls. After this week it is safe to say it is a winner with me. Tastes exactly like the bag note which is extremely rare for something this heavily aromatic. Next P&C order will have a healthy weight of Creme Brulee in it. I couldn't smoke it too often, but it will be my go-to when around other non smokers. May also try blending it with other stuff.

Wow... hanging in a cabin up in the Smokies and no pics? Pretty sure a forum rule was broken!

Glad you had a nice vacation, Andy. I myself have never smoked a pipe in a hot tub. Lotta wine, but no pipe.

Spartacus - you are on track. I toured their factory and asked this very question of my main Sutliff contact. They are nearly identical with the exception of one element in the topping; there's a little something extra in Molto, but of course he didn't divulge exactly what. Another fabulous aro from Sutliff is Barbados Plantation (tin), but you can get essentially the same tobacco in bulk, which goes by Sutliff M-1.

That is God's Country indeed. A pipe on the porch of a mountain cabin in the Smokies, it just don't get much better than that...
We'd go most summers when I was a boy. A good way to escape the Florida heat. I only learned late in life that they call us all "Floridiots" up there lol...

Those reservoirs are now well guarded in a very cautious manner. You may not see the security but it definitely seeβs youπ

My wife and I just moved to Knoxville and we're planning a weekend trip to Gatlinburg over the summer. We found a cabin on vrbo that was about 25 minutes east of Pigeon forge. It was great out there. A bit of a drive to get to things back on the strip but we were mainly there to go hiking up in the smokies and the drive didn't bother us. Absolutely zero human noise out there in the mornings and evenings. Serene.

I can't stand Pigeon Forge... way too touristy and annoying to drive through (though there are some great restaurants). I'd rather drive through the Smokies than Pigeon Forge any day.

Love the smokies. Agree Pigeon Forge is a nightmare of signs and tourist traps. Use to stay at a cabin outside of Gatlinburg that faced the National Forest. It was sublime.
