The local B&M I use is Mayan Imports in Metairie, LA. Last night was their Annual Pipe Night and Long Smoke competition. While my time was just under an hour (my best time is 1 hr., 27 mins.) it was still good enough for 1st loser status. That meant I got to choose from the 5 prize pipes after the winner. His time was 1 hr. 10 mins. and he fell in love with a Rocky Patel Freehand. My choice was THE BEST pipe on the table, an Ardor Venere V64. I feel like I was the real winner. I also won a Xikar Pipe Lighter as a door prize.

Congrats on a fine pipe. If I could that for for not winning I'd lose every time.

I want to join your pipe club. ππππ€ Anytime, Just come on down! The Annual Pipe Night is something the local Tinderbox started years ago and when it started to close Mayan Imports bought the shop out and opened in a new location. They also hired the two guys running the Tinderbox and decided to continue the Pipe Night. Steve Monjure, owner of Monjure International, donates the most expensive prize pipe. The three previous years it's been Rinaldo Triads but this year he donated the Ardor. He also has a display set up with pipes for sell at 20% discount. This year we also had Bill Haggerty, the regional sales rep for Savinelli and Peterson at the event and he was selling the pipes on display at 20% discount also. One of the prize pipes was a Savinelli, also. All I can say is it's good to have a shop that is knowledgeable about pipes and pipe tobacco as well as cigars. They are also supporters of the New Orleans Pipe Club and hosts of monthly meeting in their smoking lounge.
