Thanks for the sample, John.
The dark and bright Virginias provide some dark fruit and citrus, a little more earth than grass, a hint of sugar and spice, some wood, and a very mild touch of vegetative floralness. The slightly tangy, tart citrus from the lighter Virginia is a little more obvious than the dark fruit and citrus from the dark Virginia. There is a light citrus topping that reminds me of orange, and tinge of lemon that underscores the sweetness. It does have a bit in common with Dunhill Flake as others have noted, though DF lacks the floral and spice, and has a little less dark fruit, and is a little sweeter than this particular manufacture. The nic-hit is just past the mild threshold. Won’t bite, or get harsh, but there is a minor rough edge present. The strength and taste are mild to medium, but this flake gets a little closer to medium in the last third of the experience. Burns a little slow as a flake will with a cool, consistent flavor from start to finish. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires some relights. Will burn to ash. Has a pleasant after taste, and can be an all day smoke for a veteran smoker. Three and a half stars.

Thanks Jim. This one hadn't hit my radar. The comparison to Dunhill Flake, one of my favorites I've recently left on the shelf for a while to finish some of my other open tins, is particularly instructive. Perhaps a knee jerk reaction on my part; however, I associate any "floral" characterization as being associated with the often mentioned Lakeland sauce when reading SG or GH reviews. I like it when in the mood and can envision Dunhill Flake with a splash being quite enjoyable. Would this be an accurate characterization?

It's not Lakeland floral. It's a minor note that comes from one of the Virginias used.

Flake tobaccos are IMHO a very unique and desirable bend. I've got several flakes on my list already and this one for sure will be added. Keep up the good work people on those reviews! ;-)

I definitely look forward to trying this one. Thanks for the review Jim.
