I remember 1984 like it was yesterday...Tigers started the season 35 - 5...nobody came close all year and then we spanked the Padres in 5 games for the WS. They were a great opponent, and the GOOSE was one intimidating competitor...but he took a spanking. It was a great year for Tigers fans.

While they will be fun to watch, the tigers are rebuilding. If we can stay in the middle of the pack and not on the bottom, it will be a good time to be a Tigers fan still.

This is a bitter-sweet day for me.
I got my love of baseball from my dad. Specifically my love for the Astros. It broke my heart further that my dad, a lifelong Astros fan, passed away less than a month before Houston won their first World Series. He never got to see them win the big one.
So, I still love baseball. Still love the Astros. But it's hard to watch without thinking of my dad. As I said, bitter-sweet.

He brought me to his practices when he was on the GM parts fab team...let me be on the field and actually catch and throw some with the guys. I joined hardball and softball teams because of him. We watched a LOT of tigers together. I lost dad 7 years ago...miss him in a TON of ways...baseball being just one.

Ernie Harwell. Anyone who knows about Ernie agrees...he was a genuine guy in all respects, his wit was sharp, his baseball knowledge was rich, and nobody called a game better.

I bought her WS tickets back in the 70's when it looked like they were going, but of course they flopped. She used to babysit Bigio and Bagwell's kids. She was a big Yankees fan before Houston had a team.

The Tigers will always be my "home team." I miss living within an hour from the stadium. I still have a pennant in a box from the first game I went to when I was 7.
I dont watch the games very often on TV, but I do enjoy listening to them on the radio.

I played baseball and football growing up, mostly hockey. Would you believe I never watched an entire game of baseball on TV, never had the patience. Iβve been to a number of stadiums to enjoy the gameππ

Big $ has ruined baseball for me. The salaries are obscene.

Big $ has ruined baseball for me. The salaries are obscene. Same with the NFL, I much prefer college football. Just wished they played more games during their season.

+1 the obscene amounts of money that people get paid to play a game is sickening. But hey, if Nike wanted to pay me 10's of millions of dollars to wear their shoes while I go to work, I'd "just do it." College football is my favorite.

Trammell, Whitaker, Lemon, Gibson, Parrish, Petry, Morris, Hernandez; what a roster. I was a Cardinals fan as a little kid but 1968 fixed that! Didn't Morris throw a no hitter in his first game of '85, too?

Mike, I must add.....college football is β getting dirty β with the under the table payoffs! Plus, with the Penn State nasty sex scandal......JMHO......Joe Paterno knew what was going on β behind closed doors β!!

Interviewing the Astros coach and he says the usual platitudes, along with the comment "and of course Springer homers every opening game". πππ€

I'm from Illinois so I have been a lifetime Cubs fan. For them to finally win a World Series after 108 years was incredible.

Nolan Ryan and the Rangers! I'll never forget the day Nolan pounded the crap out of Robin Ventura after Ventura was stupid enough to charge the mound. YOU DONT' MESS WITH TEXAS!!!
