It's alright. The pipe will be more satisfying on the way home. Let them have their smoke free spaces and allow us to keep manufacturing and selling pipe tobacco and cigars. We have to find a middle ground somewhere, like we used to with issues in the past.

To make the people exit the park so that they can deal with the hassle to smoke just outside the entrance...I guess that protects the kingdom from smoky air. Disney became political long ago, they will never get a dime from me.

Disney became political long ago, they will never get a dime from me. Almost every corporation is. I like to shop mom and pop when I am able to. That's one of the nice things about thailand. Mom and pop options are literally everywhere. Same with most of Ireland.

The way government was formed here, it is suppose to be the other way around....unfortunately, as a society we have gotten lazy and allow them to think that they are our masters and we are their subjects.

I don’t see how the Average American can even afford Disney, the rats image has tarnished for me as I grow older, son-in- law took his family there with a military discount, daughter told me how much it costs, MYGOSH, IT WAS EXPENSIVE, for WHAT to see a rat in a costume. I will say I took kids when they were 8 and 10, stayed in Fort Wilderness in my pop up, and Epcot was amazing. But now I don’t see the thrill, old Fart that I am.

One of my co-workers took his wife and two kids to Disneyworld a few years back... he said they wanted to stay at the Disney hotel...$8,000.00.
Vacationing domestically, them numbers do not compute.

Last time I went to any Disney park was in 1988 … and I got in free with the group that I was performing with.
My sister's family goes every year and I told her she's NUTS!! Plus, I live by the Grand Canyon … slightly better vacation in my mind.

I would have assumed Disney park properties were already smoke free. Last time I was at a Disney Park The Main Street Tobacco Shoppe was still there. I usually dropped the family off at the gate and headed to Corona Cigars.

I wouldn't trade the Disney memories my kids and I have for the world. My wife and I took them several years back and they still talk about it with great/happy remembrances.
So it's smoke-free. Doesn't change anything for me. I'll go if I want. My pipesmoking is my time, Disney is family time. I don't expect to combine the two and I certainly don't bemoan the loss of pipesmoking time if/when I can keep the family time.
If Disney is too expensive for some so be it. A $12 Movie is too. A $25k new car is too. A $10 dinner plate is also more than some can afford. I recognize their situation. But I don't expect every business to lower pricing to suit those limited budgets. I won't begrudge any business the ability to charge what they want and person to spend their money how they want.
I also make it a habit to avoid letting politics limit my spending to only those businesses that support the same political ideals I do. I have no reason to deny my dollar to any bisiness offering a product I want for a price I'm willing to pay. Politics don't come into play in those situations. Anyone able to go online via a phone, internet account, pc, tablet, etc that think 100% of their dollars only support non-political companies and/or businesses who are politically in line with their own ideals and/or companies that are wholly legal/moral in their endeavors is fooling themselves.
That's my .02...nothing more.

Walt primarily smoked cigarettes. No matter though, his legacy has been destroyed by Eisner and Iger. Those f****ers have done nothing but raise prices, serve shareholders and turned the original Disneyland into an OUTRAGEOUS money-grab. I was an annual passholder for several years, and it just got out of hand... the price was stupid high. I am a member of the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco. It's a better place.

What we're talking about here is them eliminating smoking areas..I really like the Patch. If I said what I want to about this topic though I would probably be asked to leave..I will say the following. At my age I don't like to travel I can't afford Disney They can take their smoking ban and shove it where the sun doesn't shine.
I was at several theme parks in my young days.I was never at Disney though nor will I ever be.

They are outlawing oversize strollers too. LMAO You can still smoke at the park hotels designated smoking areas and of course Tom Sawyer Island if u are sneeky enough. Just watch for those cameras folks.

Last visit in ‘96 I felt like a vacuum cleaner was sucking the money from my wallet. That was back when I had money to “ blow “, I spent just over $3,500 in three days. From people I know that have been to Disney in the past year they ALL have told me they’d never go back again.

I wonder if a lot of the people who say they would never go or never go back to a Disney park are precisely the type of people Disney is trying to keep away with their rules & policies.
If so, it's a win-win for everyone.

If so, it's a win-win for everyone. The last time I went was there was 1991. My kids actually liked spending time in the Rockies with mom and dad than going to amusement parks though, and my daughter actually reminisced about me smoking a pipe in Yellowstone that brought me back to the briar. Different avenues for different folks... that is what makes America great!

I have never been a big Disney fan. My wife says we need to go to Disney World once, to have the experience. I looked at how much it would cost. Holy crapazoidz. I can't imagine paying that much to wait in line for hours amongst a zoo of people. Plus, they dont have good rollercoasters, and I want me some rollercoasters (so does my daughter). So, I don't know if we'll ever get there, but it seems there are other "experiences" I'd rather spend with my kids. When I was about 11, we took a trip all through Colorado, new Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Wyoming. I'll NEVER forget it.

I cant say that I'm shocked about the no smoking at Disney. Seems to be happening everywhere else. Went to Moody AFB last year for an air show, got to the "gate" and at the security check they told my dad he had to take his cigarettes back to the car because smoking wasnt allowed. The car was over a mile away. I told him I'd take them back, he threw them away. It's just the way things are headed I suppose. As long as I can smoke in my shed, my car, my front porch and at Walt's, I'm good.

Wow...we have gone full puss as a nation, I remember when we got our C-rat allotment while stationed in Germany, it had cigarettes in the spam cans. Back in the late 70's I delivered to a Marine that was part of Merrill's raiders...he smoked cigars, and had a wall of medals to prove where he had been...how the mighty have fallen. (not individuals, countries steered by politicians)

Maybe I'll be an outlier on this, but I think it's the right thing for Disney (and other public places). I've always figured that freedom means being able to do as you want, right up until it affects someone else being able to do as they want. I don't think people should be obligated to breathe, smell, or encounter tobacco smoke if they don't want to, and I'd have to say that should go triple for kids. We all know it's genuinely harmful, that's beyond debate. We make our own decisions as to our level of exposure, but we should not be making those decisions for other people or their kids, IMO.
Personally, I was really glad when bars and restaurants went smoke-free. I loathe cigarette smoke, and even though I enjoy pipe and cigar smoke I can understand why others don't. I'm actually really surprised it took Disney this long.
Regarding the Disney "experience", yeah, it wouldn't be my first choice either. There was a lot I disliked, but I did enjoy the kick my young kids got out of it. I'm glad to have the memories, but I wouldn't mind not going back until it's with some young grandkids (that should be in another 25 years or so lol).

I was surprised to see smoking areas in the parks at Disney last time I went. I suspect that they were mostly used by visitors from other countries where smoking everywhere is more acceptable (China, Russia, eastern Europe, Japan). This change will impact the foreign tourists more than the domestic visitors.

Growing up in a family of six kids with two heavily smoking parents in the sixties...none of us had respiratory issues. I know that is anecdotal, but there is this: www.forbes.com/sites/danielfisher/2013/12/12/study-finds-no-link-between-secondhand-smoke-and-cancer/#c6c7dd365d49slate.com/technology/2017/02/secondhand-smoke-isnt-as-bad-as-we-thought.htmlAnd of course there is the multi year study from the World health Organization that deep sixed it when the facts didn't pony up with the narrative. www.davehitt.com/facts/who.htmlAs the saying goes a lie travels around the world, by the time the truth get's it's boots on...the real truth as the masses are conditioned to believe it is a whiff of tobacco smoke will cause cancerous lesions....I say bullcrap.

Once he road the Cyclone with me I couldn’t keep him off it....lol. He was always a child at heart. A great man, miss him dearly.
