I don't see this board as any different than any other social media site. We are in social media on this board. Just because this bbb site is not some giant media conglomerate does not mean it's not part of the whole. In general, communication is a good thing. I think we are currently going through a tribal period in the virtual world. However, after a few wars people eventually find a common voice.

I have e-mail, cell phone, land line and street snail mail address. So why would I have need for ANY of what's called "social media" ? LoL! This is social media and is the price you agreed pay to play here when you joined is your information. Everything you disclose here is data mined and useful to someone and is for sale. The fact that you like to talk loud is probably noted as part of the data process and has a value. You make a Good point. This was the social media of the late 90s / early 2000s.

I'm down to Twitter to publicly shame companies that have unresponsive customer support and Instagram. Nuke FB three times and apparently that is the charm. I constantly pair down Instagram to mostly friends and pipe makers. I also manage the IG account for the local B&M so I might as well use it.

Let's advertise The Patch on FB! We do have a Facebook page... www.facebook.com/thebriarpatchforumSeems like it's not been used much. I'm kinda glad in one way though. I was a member of a Royal Python forum when I had my snake. The place is a desert now because everyone went to Facebook. The discussions were happening there and not in the forum, to the point that there have been no posts in the last few years. I'd hate something like that to happen here. It is funny you should say that...United Pipe Clubs Of America just posted a blog on social media/ websites for pipe clubs, an excerpt: I responded that I have seen the same thing: As a pipe club, we use Facebook and a website, mostly just for information, and as a way to answer questions..and we have had an online presence long enough that a google search brings us right to the top three hits. www.unitedpipeclubs.org/content.aspx?page_id=2507&club_id=90797&item_id=1914&pst=8302&fbclid=IwAR2AT0ZmOwR0fZWHfChDvYT3Nn9r7de3BSDIW2-K9OcDOeUvQEwv9haWrMEMy comments are on their Facebook posting of that blog.
Also, keep in mind, the subject of the blog was on pipe clubs reaching people using website or FB...not on forums vs Facebook.
