Here's my second plug. 60g 515 RC-1, and 20g Perique. Pressed for 7 days into a 1.5" tall rock solid plug. Smells great. Gonna let it rest a few days, and give it a go on Saturday. Wolfman, get on it!

Yours looks more solid than mine. More like a true plug. I did not add any additional moisture. The one on the left is a re-hydrated Cope Escudo layered with new Escudo, then pressed. The one on the right is 70% red-ribbon, 10% perrique and and 20% ODF.

All of my ingredients were ribbon cut though. Was your Perique cube cut?

You guys have to be careful if you are going to use a shop press. When I first started making plugs many moons ago I put the tobacco in my shop press and pressed the beejesus out of it... I still have that hockey puck laying around somewhere. Hacksaw into slices? Dry and rub out?

I did not cube cut it. It was the one element that had some moisture to it. I have a large C clamp set up with 2" PVC. It get's good pressure, but not as much as I probably need to break the cell walls inside the leaf.
The one on the right is a special occasion type of smoke. It's really yummy.

I used Red Ribbon in my last plug. I like that stuff. It's just a simple, good smoke by itself, so it only will improve a blend.

This time it's "Boneyard Plug". I heated the tobacco this time before pressing.

My wife just saw that my noodle press was out, and asked if I'd been making another "solid".

First, I just got to smoke a bowl of this blend with Cramptholomew and its pretty good. Very young and needs some time on it but over all, I like it. Pressed could be an interesting thing to do with it. Second, I recently tried the noodle/pasta press thing and for me, it doesnt work. I cannot get to the pressure amount that I use without busting the ends off of it. The only thing I have found currently that works well for me is a pollen press. It works with less tobacco but I can crank down on it much harder and put more pressure on the tobacco. If I crank hard enough I tend to end up with something as hard as a plug. It was an interesting idea though. I recently revisited using the noodle press after I had an idea pop in my head. I used heavy duty hose clamps on each end of the press where the end caps were thread on. This allowed me to crank down on my press with my tobacco without my previous issue. So for anyone now or in the future looking at using a pasta press to use with their tobacco and had the same failure issue that I did, here is a solution that I found works for me.
