I don't know how prevalent this stuff is, but I came across a few bottles in a grocery store the other day. After looking at the label, and seeing the outline of a face smoking a pipe, I knew I'd be spending $2.50 to try it. Looks good, smells good, but only tastes like 1000 island dressing with some added smoke flavoring. This might be a favorite somewhere, but it did my babybacks no good at all. I might experiment with it a little more, but I'm not hopeful. I can't believe a pipe smoker came up with this. Oh yeah, I forgot, you can't judge a book by its cover or label in this case. Anyone else tried this?

You best tread lightly in criticism... big Daddy looks like he could give us a big thumpin! The bbq sauce gets good reviews on Amazon, I suspect that the dipping sauce might be an offshoot where they failed. And there are regional tastes, I like Texas barbecue, but the Carolina bbq I can live without. www.dreamlandbbq.com

Charlie, I figured I'd be riling some feathers by not liking that sauce. It sure had that old timey look to it, like it came from somebodys old recipe. You're right though, BBQ recipes and sauces vary all over the country, and people, like you say have different tastes. All I can say is that I'm not fond of this sauce, nor like you do I favor the Carolina type sauces. Actually, I'm more of a dry rub guy, but some smokey sweet sauce is ok too.

Orley you’ve got the basics, put a small pot on stove and Dr that sucker up, I know you’ve got the smarts to do that, a little cayenne, vinegar, butter, extra spices and you’ve got yourself a winner, .

Sounds like onion ring sauce for the Red Robin brand in the frozen food section of the store.

I'm a dry rub kinda guy too. I love the pipe on the picture though.

I am a dry rub kinda guy also...but I cheated today, doing a wet marinade on a turkey breast in the smoker.
