Hello all, new member here and soooo much to learn. so far ive learned that I was not filling my pipe the right way and how to smoke my pipe. I would like to have some info. on my Gills pipe that I have. Can I still get a bent push stem for it. Also I would like to know why my pipe tobacco looses its flavour about half way down the bowl, when I smoke it. thats all for now and thank you for your replys Herman.

Welcome to the Patch, hope you enjoy your stay with all of us👌👍👍
You say your tobacco losses it’s flavor when your at the half bowl portion. Are you smoking aromatics? Does this occur with what ever tobacco you smoke? Aged or non aged blends? I’d suggest trying a few different pipes.

Welcome to the patch. Do you have any pictures of you pipe?
With many aromatics, the flavour does drop off as you go down the bowl. Does it happen with English blends?

Welcome from Down Under.
For around seven years I smoked a pipe without knowing another pipe smoker. As I had no-one to ask I blundered on. Choice of tobacco is very limited here so I didn't even know what an English, or Balkan, Oriental or VaPer was. It hadn't occurred to me that I needed to rest my briar. Around 18 months ago I found pipe forums & on-line sites such as tobaccoreviews.com.
It was a steep learning curve & I'm much more informed now. My enjoyment has increased tenfold since. At first boy did I ask some dumb questions. None-the-less, my brothers & sisters of the briar were very patient & helpful. No-one made me feel stupid for asking. Read as much as you can on pipes & tobacco (tobaccoreviews is an excellent resource for the pipe smoker)
It's how we learn, by asking questions. It's a really good group here so don't be shy to ask.
