I have been fortunate enough to have a fellow pipe smoker in Scotland as a penpal. He graciously sent me a pack of Condor Original Ready Rubbed and some Sam Gawith Squadron Leader. I'm planning on sending him his own care package, and I'm curious which blends some of you across the pond find difficult to get. I'd like to send him a few that are not available (or at least easy to find) in the UK.

Compared to the US, they are very limited. Just look at a site and see. www.mysmokingshop.co.ukAlso, I understand its not the easiest shipping to them if they know its tobacco. Someone else can advise better in this matter.

Iโd bet he would enjoy tobaccoโs from Wilke ๐๐๐. Just be careful with customs in Scotland, can end up costing your penpal hundreds in taxes/vat feeโs. I know in most of Europe now there has been a big crackdown in tobacco products coming into many European Countries. You might be better off sending him a good Cob or two. Ask his opinion......good luck.

I was about to mention the joys of HMRC but Ted beat me to it. The risk of getting hit on duties is very high

If they have gift cards at U.K. tobacconists, it might be best to go that route and have him try something he was curious about and accessible there.

50g as a gift will get through OK. 50g sent from smoking pipes, for example, can get stuck in customs. I tried 50g once and they slapped a ยฃ250 fee to get it released. As McWiggins stated, you can see we don't have much over here compared to you guys. But we do have loads of sg and Germain's.

I'll also send the reply letter separately...

If you have something like Frog Morton to spare, that would be a great gift. Not only were McClelland blends never available there to my knowledge, there's nothing like them (especially the Frogs).

Unfortunately I didn't get into pipe smoking until after McClelland closed their doors. I have a tin of Virginia No.27 that was graciously gifted to me by a member here, but I'm saving that for myself!

Send your friend a 50 gram tin of Hearth and Home WhiteKnight or BlackHouse and a Cob. Declare as a gift. A 50 gram tin of gifted tobacco will not get taxed. But you must declare the tobacco as a gift. If it was Australia the tax would be exorbitant even if stated a gift, Scotland is much more lenient.

I just ordered a tin of GL Pease Fillmore and a MM straight Country Gentleman to send to him. We'll see if it arrives without any customs problems.

Great choice in tobaccoโs ๐๐๐. I donโt see any issues with Scotland customs. Even Ireland will not tax if declared a gift from a private person, not a retailer. No worries!!!

I'm in Northern Ireland so we're part of UK law, so our customs apply in Scotland too. Did you ship directly from the website? If so you may have problems, but it may fly under the radar too. Fingers crossed for you.

Plus, I may have ordered a tin of Fillmore for myself. And 4oz of PS Luxury Bullseye Flake...
