I bought some marlin flake this morning. I've so many open tins that I probably won't open this for a few years. If I find out I love this blend in 10 years time, when I open it, I might be disappointed if it's been discontinued.
It got me thinking... Do you guys have many blends in your cellar that you've still yet to try?

Yes ... many! Besides those that will be "new" to me, there's the aged versions of many others that I've yet to sample as well.

I have nothing in the cellar that I have not smoked a bowl or three prior. I figure why cellar if a particular blend is not right for me, then I stock up👍

I have a few that I havent popped open yet. When I buy tins to try out, I buy 2 of them. Whenever I get around to trying it, I know I'll have 1 backup if I like it. If I dont, I have 1 to gift, or to try again later.
Plum pudding on the other hand, I have a lot and still havent tried it.

After getting my recent order in yesterday, eight. In two weeks that will change to zero unless I make another order.

Funny you should ask because I just did a brief survey of my cellar yesterday and realized I have 17 tins of different blends that I have not tried. They include five Dunhill blends, McClelland blends, three Peterson blends. I also have a couple of C&D, Davidoff and Solani.

90% of my cellar is open tins and jars. I open just about everything I get in, because of the joy in trying something new. I have gone back and bought more of things I know I really like.

Alot, I picked up a bunch of tobacco cheap from someone who was selling. My cellar is about 275 blends wide. I have yet to try about 50 of the blends. When I find one I like I go deep with it. Others, I put away for awhile to age and some I give away or trade.

Legend Lover Good question to think about. I don’t know how many never smoked blends I have, but it’s probably significant. You raise a good point, what if you open one in the future and it’s no longer available. It’s something to think about considering the current political and public climate.

Just going through the inventory. About the only tins in the collection I haven't tried is some H&H stuff. I did finally crack my tin of Black XX after picking up two more. That might be a lifetime supply for that one. I'll probably use it for some blending experiments.
Last 6 months I went wide on trying a lot of blends. I'm now starting to focus purchases for particular blends. I am fortunate that I have a buddy that has an extensive aged collection and shares a bowl or two from time to time. Rattray's blends age well. I have several on the accumulate list.

Um, a bunch. I haven't counted, but I should someday. Many unopened tins, and tons of samples. I have almost no duplicate tins other than McClellands and a few SG and Germain.

Now I know what I'll be stuffing in your pipe when you come down...may have to tie you to the chair and force blowing smoke in your face...you know you are gonna love it...why do you think I had you get me a pound?? Got a half pound of the regular from Jeff (many thanks for his generosity), and got a pound from Josh of the PP Special Reserve...so I am pretty much set with all the cellar I will ever need...I don't expect to live another 20 years and with my cellar I should make it it that far.

18 tins of McClelland 40th Anniversary - Never had a bowl. Sure hope it lives up to the hype.

Yep, I've been buying PP since I tried Bengal Slices. With the PP/BS deal that P&C does, it's a no brainer. I was stocking up on BS anyway.
Even if I never get around to smoking it, others love it.

Mark, it’s a very enjoyable smoke now, with four plus years of aging it will be an outrageous smoke....JMHO. That my friend was a great purchase at the right time👌👍👍👍 PS I popped a tin last Saturday at the pipe show and shared with others, all wish they had purchased a few tins. I’ve already seen 40th Anniversary sell for $100.00 on eBay.....that’s insanity!!!

Too many to list but will get around to it sooner or later. A lot of them are single tins that I just haven't tried yet and others are multiple tins put away for aging to try a couple years down the road. I knocked a few off the untried list today at the pipe club meeting and will need to order more of some of them.

Well, as a creature of habit, I think I only have 2 tins that I've never tried. Boring, I know. But predictable. But I have lbs and lbs of whatvi know.

I have quite a bit of blends that I have never tried, multiple tins of some, but I know by the genre of tobacco that I will like it. And with many being Virginia’s and Burley’s, I know that they are better tomorrow than today.

^ +1, maybe more than I'll ever get to, maybe not. Enough that I'll never get bored smoking the same thing over and over.
