For the last couple of years my everyday smoke has be C&D Billy Budd. I have tried several other tobaccos to try and enlarge my palette, but, to no avail. I had been contemplating trying a few of the Daughters and Ryan blends but kept holding off until the TAPS expo in Raleigh back on April 6th. Needless to say, but, I picked up a few of their blends along with a couple of Salani blends. Congrats to Daughters and Ryan for making a blend that will definitely be added to my rotation! English Hoopla is really good and I haven’t smoked anything else since the show.

Not had the regular MR blend. To be honest, although I did enjoy the Special Reserve a lot, I prefer the regular Mississippi blend mainly because I prefer the cut. It's less fuss to prepare & pack. The regular is also a little cheaper & comes in an 8oz tin (If I'll ever find it not 'out of stock' that is) Although I haven't tried the Plum Pudding Special Reserve, I chose the regular PP because judging from the reviews, the regular has slightly less nicotine & is a touch milder. (After many years hooked on cigarettes, & taking into account that I inhale, I intentionally choose milder blends with low nicotine levels)

I don't think Daughters and Ryan blends gets the attention it deserves...I really like Picayune, and have plenty of the blends deep cellared...I admit my bias though, Mark Ryan is a really nice guy...genuine to the core, and what he did to improve the lives of the people that bring us Perique, compared to how their existence was, prior to the Ryanization of the process, is enough to support the product...the fact that we can get great smokes is just icing on the cake. Knee deep in the Hoopla... Dramatwist will get the reference.

Although I bought it as a mixer, it's not a bad smoke on it's own. (Mates even use it for RYO) If memory serves, it only cost $20usd for 1lb at the time (On special. RRP is around $24usd)

Grace Slick is still lucky to be doing the Gram-ba...(if she is one) after pulling a shotgun on a cop....hard to think that was 25 years ago... www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1994-03-06-mn-30814-story.html

Wise choice. A very mild VaPer blend. Perfect all-day smoke.

I find the Hoopla blend to be a relaxing English smoke, and like all the D&R blends, possessed of high quality tobaccos. Mark Ryan often picks the tobaccos himself and supervises the production of the blends, too.

I really enjoy all three Rimboche blends especially with a bit of age. The price is outstanding and with hydration ( They so desperately need.), one ends up with more tobacco, pound for pound, than other non D&R offerings.
