Does anyone here create their own blends, for there own pleasure, and then name them themselves? Like a B&M would?

I have one that I made that a few here have tried, and loved. I have no name for it. I have a hard enough time naming my kids and my dogs.
It's just referred to as RD mix.

I have several jars of old Syrian Latakia that I use use to kick a blend up a notch, but I limit it to that. I know JimInks has an evolving work blend and I think @lonecoyote does some concoctions... I'm sure others are more adventurous than I.

By my notebook, I've fiddled 64 blends, and only one of them I mix and smoke regularly. I call it Biplane Balkan III. It's latakia, DFK, red Va. And most important, McC Yenice Agonya. consequently I won't be smoking it forever. No one does Orientals like McC did. A simple one I do which also is life limited is HH vintage Syrian mixed with perique. maybe I can stretch it for a couple more years, I have about 4 lbs. Of Vintage Syrian .

I have a few I’ve come up with, my two favorites are my Maple Crumb Kake & My Perfect Plug. Steve’s ^^^^^^^^^ Vintage Syrian and Perique makes for a great smoke. Josh’s blend I’m waiting for a couple of weeks for his blend to meld a bit longer. Honestly, I don’t know how much longer I can hold off smoking a bowl or three!!!

I have a sweet aromatic that I have blended. Given some away and now have to sell it to friends. It got too expensive to keep supplying them for free. I call it April Morning after the wife.

It's funny how tastes change. Like many pipe smokers, I quickly turned from aromatics to mild English, American, crossovers, VaPers & the like. I still enjoy lightly topped aromatics when the mood strikes, like Orlik Golden Sliced or PS Luxury Twist Flake for e.g.
Often I'll receive a pound of tobacco that's not quite to my liking so I tinker with them until I get it more to my taste. Holiday match was a touch too 'earthy' while 310 Modern English was a bit bitey (I'm susceptible to bite & smoke too fast) Mixing the two together 50/50 has given a very enjoyable blend.
One experiment that turned out really well, was mixing around 10% Mark Twain to a mild English like London Squire or Old College. (London Squire mixed 50/50 with Old College, then 10% of Mark Twain gives me the best result)
I've also got some straight Peter Stokkebye perique & latakia that I use for tweaking blends. Windsail Virginia is excellent for toning down aromatics like the Mark Twain.
Although making my own blends from scratch would be fun, it's too cost prohibitive.

It would be interesting to see both the types and the percentages of tobaccos used to make one's custom blends.

Jason came up with OGS/Exotic Orange. Initially 1/3 E/O, I have adjusted it to 80% OGS and 20% Exotic Orange for my own taste preference. Needing a handle, I call it Shrewd Move.

The only one I have is my "Vanilla Kumbaya" which is just all of the various vanilla blends I've tried mixed together. It's actually pretty darn good, but I only did it to minimize storage requirements.

This one is my first serious attempt. The ODF bulk and Lane BCA. It's really good, but still needs a little something else, but I don't know what. I think I want to add just a bit richer flavor, but not make it any stronger. And I don't want a limited, exotic that's cost prohibitive and hard to find. I'll keep experimenting. It adds to the whole experience.

I think I just did that! Took the 515-RC-1/Perique and added 507-S stoved Virginia to make a 50g blend and stuff it in a noodle press for 5 days. The results were grand! It is an incredible slow burning smoke full of sweetness and perique spice. The stoved Virginia added body to the smoke. I am definitely make more of this hockey puck. Gallery of the tobacco brownie

Please post your thoughts. Have fun👍

I’ve developed a blend or two that some, besides myself enjoy. AJ’s #1; #2; #3, H&H/P are the most popular.

I agree with your change in percent. Even 30% EO is too much. That stuff is like an industrial concentrate. All you need is a hint to make it sing.
