Just read an article about a Doberman in Ohio, 2 yrs old starving, ate rocks, brought in and died later. I found one like that at dump at my fishing camp, Dumpster was for camp, owners, wife and I went to throw trash, this skinny old dog peered out from behind , could see it was on its last leg, there was a grocery store by it, I stayed and wife bought a pack of Weiner for the dog, had to mash one in my hand for him to eat it, too weak, picked him up, and brought him to my camp, laid him on a blanket,he drank, mashed some more wieners, he lasted a day and a half, at lest he died somewhat comfortable. Buried him by an old oak tree. No dog should be treated as such.

I hate reading about dogs treated this way. But, at least you gave that pup a few comfortable moments in his last few hours. God bless you!

I absolutely hate animal abuse...which is the reason I don't go out in public much...too old to go to prison for killin' a POS because of his/her actions. I've had mostly rescue animals and they are the best. Their love and affection is something that makes your heart feel so much better when you've taken the time to care for them...BIG thanks to you oldcajun123. Made my day so much better!

May I add, Please treat ALL animals RIGHT! (as you would want to be treated) We are they're care takers.

I hate to read about or watch the news and hear more issues concerning animal abuse. A few years ago I rescued two dogs and a cat, took them to a local no kill shelter and followed up to make sure they were adopted. Those responsible for this type of abuse towards any animal are now dealt with in court if or when caught. Me personally, if I caught the perpetrator of this type of abuse I have my own way of taking care of the problem. It breaks my heart when I see this abuse, some people don’t have a heart.

My wife and I both love animals. We have 2 cats one 15 and one 16 years old.We also put food out for some cats and rabbits that run around the neighborhood. We also put food and water out for the birds..I just can't understand how some folks can be so heartless as to abuse anything.

I with Walt on this. Best I stay home and away from those that may cause me to do something I would regret regardless of how much they deserved it. Those that abuse and mistreat the things we should love and care for best be left to the Judgement of Him that is able to judge fairly. AJ

AJ You are absolutely right...but you also know how crazy I can get...takes a lot of judgement/His power to keep me from doing what I would do to someone intentionally doing harm to an animal.

My one cat adopted us at the shelter, she kept tripping us until we paid attention to her and when we brought her home she hopped out of the box and laid down like she was with us for years. The backstory on her was sad because she was abused and left for dead but someone found her and got her the care she needed and she has been a sweet loving cat since we got her.
My other cat was living under my trailer when I found him. It took me a week to coax him out with food just to pet him. We tried to bring him in in the winter but he wanted no part of it so I got him a dog house with a bed warmer and he stuck around. He came home one day all chewed up and in bad shape, got him to the vet and patched up and he didn't have a choice he was staying in. We let him out during the day but he was back in at night but he got in another fight and got nicked up. About a week later he was in bad shape so off to the vet. She ran some tests and he has feline aids. She was going to put him down but I refused. He healed up and is still with us. He lives in the hot tub building because he had a peeing problem so he comes in for a few hours and back out to the building. The building is heated and air conditioned with plenty of windows for him to look out so he has a way better life than when he showed up.

NO ANIMAL should be treated that way! Any one who does needs to be chained up and treated the same way !

Back in July of 2012, We got a call that there were two kittens that were going to put down in the morning and did we want to see them? We went to see them. M'lady was sitting on the floor and one cat came up to her, curled up on her lap and went to sleep. She was about seven weeks old. The other one kept hiding under the chair I was sitting on, and kept grabbing my foot, wanting to play. She was three or four weeks old. They looked like fun cats, and we couldn't bear to see them put to sleep, so we took them home. Named the oldest one Suzy and the youngest one Molly, and they have brought us a ton of joy since we saved them.
We never let them go outside. We aren't taking any chances with them.

Now I have only 1 a sweet lil girl who has epilepsy...so she stays with us 24/7...we have gotten her a stroller that she rides in when we go into stores or restaurants, she never barks and you have to look to see her, she is that quiet...got her designated as a service dog, which she is...she keeps us going, when life seems impossible to bear.

We rescued "Vera"...not from a shelter, but from it's previous owner via a CraigsList "free cat" ad. The owners didn't want her, and the guy told us that he teased her. She was 6 months old and fully loaded with fleas. From the moment we got her home, she was full of affection. I tell you, she has proven to be a blessing to my wife and I. She'll turn 4 years old this year. Cat owners will tell you; if you're looking at ANYthing...and then set it down...they will lay on it as though you put it there for them...LOL. I was doing some inventory with my Stanwell collection....so of course, she flopped on them.

Except maybe the mistreatment of children. There the abuse is not "just" physical, but endures forever in the brain and soul of the victims. It's all very very sad. Our rescue Lab is a miracle of love and joy.

They are the ultimate bullies and most often, psychologically disturbed.

Our rescue Lab is a miracle of love and joy. It's tough with the kids. My parents fostered kids for 40 years and had some of the most abused ones.A couple got past what was done to them and have a good life. 4 are dead and 2 are in prison for life for murder. The rest just disappeared, no word from them. They were given a good life with my parents but some you can't get out what was done to them and the cycle repeats itself. It's sad.

There is no way we could treat our 2 dogs any better. Breed specific dog food at $150/month for 2 12lb dogs. Shopping for a dog stroller that will fit in the trunk of the trike. Luxurious pet beds in every room. Can't walk for all the toys. 5 minute belly rubs every night. Brush their teeth regularly. Vitamins, premium shampoo and conditioner, etc.

It was Twain who appropriately wrote:
"I have been studying the traits and dispositions of the "lower animals" (so called) and contrasting them with the traits and dispositions of man. I find the result humiliating to me."
