I just read that our government is getting ready to raise the minimum age to buy tobacco to 21..Now it gets interesting..The article says that the tobacco industry is in agreement with this. It's suggested that when this is passed other proposed legislation regulating tobacco will be dropped..The article came from Politico..I don't know how accurate it is.

Yep... it is a pretty non partisan issue now. Mitch McConnell is on board, he drives the senate legislation, Pelosi was at the helm of the 2009 tobacco act as speaker and will be for it, and in recent days, Trump told kids not to smoke and drink.
The fix is in.
Same with the Red Flag laws regarding the second amendment... bipartisan support.
I like Franklin’s quote on liberty and security, and at some point people deserve neither when they vote for one at the expense of the other,
This comment is critical of all politicians regardless of political affiliation.

States are already doing so. Washington State 21 years mandate goes into effect January 1, 2020.

Tobacco and tobacco related products, aka vaping supplies.
I'd say the government is either out of touch or they have something else going on. The classic "look at this hand while the other hand gets something else done." I say this because young people these days are more into vaping than smoking and those items are easily puchased online from other coutries. A teen does not need to go to a local vape shop or have an older person buy them vape or tobacco supplies.
If these younger are not old enough at 18 to make such decisions on whether to smoke or vape or even drink alcohol then in my opinion they should not be considered adults. They are not mature enough to vote, join the military or engaged in other adult life changing decisions.
But lets face it, the war on tobacco is not about age or health.

I don't see a problem with raising the age on tobacco or alcohol. What they really need to do now is raise the age to be drafted to 21. I don't want my 18 year old child, yes CHILD, to smoke or drink if I still had one that young and I certainly don't want them to be forced to go to war at that age either. (Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with fighting or dying for your country........as long as it's for freedom and not oil or some other commodity but, I don't believe in sending children to die.) And Hell! I don't want my 40 year old to smoke or drink.

I do not have an issue with 21, but I DO have an issue when the FDA starts knocking around words like punitive.
