As my meager cellar grows in volume I find it impossible to know where things are at among 70 canning jars.
Do you dig and hunt? Do you store things in a particular order?

Ready to smoke blends are on a shelf in 8oz wide mouth mason jars. Blenders are all grouped together and a chart was made so I know where something is. Example, second row, five over and three back.
The rest is in a cool dark place. It too is listed and charted.

It's easiest for me to fill tobacco tins with my favourite blends. When the tins get low I dig out the jars from my 'cellar' & fill them again. I've also got a jar that holds around 4oz of my latest experiment of mixing various blends. This is usually what I smoke during the day, especially when I'm out & about.

I have 29 different blends now opened and ready to smoke. The way those are stored in jars or original tins they are fairly easy to access. The one’s I’m still cellaring I know what draw or rack they are stored in/on by looking at the number location on one of my spreadsheets. I establish by blender, then the type of blend and the amount that’s still being aged. Sounds more difficult than it really is, once set up it’s a breeze to locate what’s next to open.

I keep two 8oz tins of GLP on the ready then grab a small tin or three and there is almost always some rope of some kind in my small area in the fifth wheel. I dot keep track of what is in the cellar.

I usually have my son grab me a pipe and a jar or tin of tobacco when we are going to the range to shoot on Sundays. If i like his choice of tobacco I will smoke it in different pipes until I decide I want to smoke something else to smoke..and that is when I send him off for a new jar,tin or pouch.

I've got over 340 pounds in my closet and all are fair game. I'll usually grab what's closest unless I'm going through the lot and retightening jar lids.

This is awesome! I have learned that many of you choose something and smoke it for a while. I have been smoking something different every bowl and I now realize that I will never learn how a certain tobacco smokes in a certain pipe by doing this! Also, it makes me feel good to know that I am not the only one who keeps a detailed inventory of my stuff. Great minds think alike!

I have 30+ jars and ziplocs that in currently smoking out of. Most of the time I want a particular blend. Sometimes, however, while I'm moving jars to find that one, something else "calls out" to me.
As long as it's a Virginia or VaPer, I'm happy.

I have a Rubbermaid tub containing over 50 half pint, wide mouth jars. This is my smoking rotation. All my other jars in the cellar aging, are in pint, and quart size mason jars. These are never opened. I just go through my "rotation", until I see something I want at that moment, and go for it.

I've got a wide range of different blends to choose from...about 80 so glass jars..funny enough, I usually smoke the same tobaccos over and over again, until I force myself to choose something different...just enjoying the wide range and the knowledge that I most likely won't run out of tobacco before I run out of time.

I have 90 blends. About 1/2 are tins. Some are purchased for just blending experiments. My wide selection was created for trying a lot of blends to figure out what I want to go deep in cellar purchases. There are some blends I have that are 5-6 years old I have not even tried yet. For the most part I just grab what tickles my fancy at the time.

Somewhat organized, in that same blends are in the same stack.
I also try to keep opened tins to a minimum, and will often pop them into a bail jar to dry down to about 65- 70% RH. So I have 8-12 ounces ready to smoke at all times, and that includes bulk or 1/2 pounds I've placed into jars.

I do the same thing. It’s when I get bored with everything that I rummage around through my cellar and pick something I haven’t smoked in a while. AJ

It's really easy for me, I just walk over to the cabinet that holds my tobacco, pull a draw out, grab a tin or jar of tobacco and commence loading my pipe. It makes it easy when you keep it in the same place all the time.

I have been wondering if I will ever get there? And if/when I do, what will I do with all the stuff I tried and didn't like? I'm sure if I look hard enough, I will find some great guys to donate it to

My approach is a miss/mash of the above. My current tobacco rotation (maybe around 8 blends) are in small jars readily available. Stuff I periodically draw from (larger jars) are in a couple of drawers, and the aging tobacco in large jars or tins is put away in banker boxes.
