Hello to all.
I bought my first pipes (3) about 35 years ago -spitfire-real briar-falcon, then I had kids and gave up. was cleaning my shed out about 12 months ago & found 2 of them & started again . I now have about 50 in my collection but nothing worth to much .now I am trying to decide how to display them. Its now heading to colder times so a good time to sit in my shed & puff away. bye for now.

I'm in the Hawkesbury. You? Where do you buy your tobacco? Hope you're not buying from your local tobacconist at our ludicrous prices. When I heard that the laws will be toughened in June re; importing tobacco in commercial quantity without a licence, I freaked out a bit & got serious about acquiring a reasonable cellar. I've now got over 30lb. (No-one I've spoken to is sure if or how the new laws will affect us. It will hinge on what is considered a commercial quantity) Send me a PM if you've got any questions.

Hello Elric. In Sydney south west.I have bought some from the local & got 3 tins from ebay when i bought some pipes. After not smoking pipes for so long i was surprised at how little is available anymore not much to choose from. There wasn't a big range to begin with in local tobacconists. One had to go to specialist tobacconists in the city to find variety. When the plain packaging scam was introduced, many blenders wouldn't jump through the red tape hoops or go to the expense for such a small market. Sol Levy shut up shop after so many years. Weren't you shocked at the price of a 50g tin? What did you buy from your local? What blends did you win on ebay? Around 18 months ago, I discovered the wonderful world of on-line shopping. The range of blends is amazing. I've discovered heaps of new blends that the antipodeans take for granted. English blends, Orientals, blends with perique just to name a few. I'm now enjoying my pipes so much more now that I have dozens of blends from which to choose. One can buy a pound of tobacco, including postage, for less than the cost of a 50g tin here. I've now got over 30lbs in my cellar. That amount would have cost over $20k at our prices.
