Yesterday I was moving some tobacco from a baggie to a jar and I always put a paper plate under the jar to catch any spills but I spilled some over the side of the plate.
Not wanting to waste it I started to pick it up off the carpet when I saw a 1.5 inch black dog hair from my sons' English Lab. Chose to throw the tablespoon of tobacco out

What an opportunity missed! Black Lab hair and carpet lint are the secret ingredients in Penzance.

When we lived in Germany, my dad decided to quit smoking, he paid a hypnotist to help him out. Everytime he lit a Pall Mall, the cigarette tasted as if hairs were threaded through it ....immediate gag reflex.
He had the hypnotist remove his hex on him...eventually worked up to a 3 pack a day habit that put him in an early grave.
So dog hair in your pipe tobacco might be a positive.

Isn’t that how Mixture 79 has been manufactured for years. Known as “ the hair of the hare “!!
I learned years ago, if any tobacco falls on the floor just vacuum it up. You could have smoked a curly-Q that would add an odd taste to your palate, oh an that aroma...yuk.

Mmm delicious...
I put a tray under my jars. When I'm done, any spillage goes into my pipe(s). Anything that happens to miss the tray gets vacuumed.
I don't necessarily feel like smoking things that I've tracked in from outside.

Sometimes just before lighting I'll drop a tiny piece into my lap and pick it up, put it back in. Light the pipe and discover the piece still on my lap. What am I smoking?

I always thought that the "hair of the dog" meant something else entirely. Guess I'm late to the party again.

Haven't experienced the canine version, but my own beard and/or moustache hairs will periodically migrate to the bowl and they taste vile.
