10:30 last night a young cop in the small city that I live in was shot and killed..He stopped a car..When he walked up to it the driver was waiting with a gun..That driver was later found in his apartment dead..Police say he shot himself.I don't know or care if that's the case..I'm just glad the bastard is dead.

What I don't understand...is that if they are that miserable with life...why take it out on an innocent? Prayers for that officer...the first line of defense...the one running toward danger not away from it.

Sad! Truly Sad! And unfortunately there will probably be more attention paid to what might have been wrong with the poor tormented guy as opposed to the cop who was doing his job.

Sadly, these things are typically referred to as “a routine traffic stop”, which underscores the sudden danger these guys find themselves in. What a senseless tragedy.
I wish the media would treat murders like this as the subhumans they are, start today referring to them as Bagofturd #1, and never mention their names publicly.
RIP to the fallen officer and his family.

From where I stand, there is nothing routine about a traffic stop. These folks put their lives on the line every day.

Both senseless and tragic, domestic calls and routine traffic stops are the most dangerous for the officers patrolling our streets and highways. The society we live in today is far worse than when I was growing up! Hope it was a Brother Officer that took this piece of dirt off the streets permanently!!
May this officer Rest In Peace, may God watch over his family.

I am very sad for the young man, whappened to get out the car with your hands up. Nowadays if I was a cop, that’s would be my standard pricedure, bullhorn from my car with hand on my gun. Is it bad training, or local policeman too comfortable , don’t think I’m critizeing. Just asking.

In most States an officer of the law can’t put his hand on his weapon unless feels threatened. If this type of killings get worse....which they are in general, an officer should have the right to first clear the vehicle he pulled over before approaching said vehicle. All hands on vehicle and face away from me should also be announced. If leery on your traffic stop wait for back up and yell on your bullhorn what procedure will be taking place. It’s time for a number of laws to be changed to protect those that protect our lives on a daily basis.

So sorry to read this. We live in a dangerous fallen world... And, man alive, how far we have fallen.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the cop's family, friends and colleagues.

Another example of how many scumbags there are out there, and how difficult it is to remove them.

That is so very sad. I cannot blame officers for being jumpy or nervous walking up to a car. I do not get stopped often but when I do, left arm and hand on door window frame, right hand on top of wheel. There they remain while conversing.
What this society has become makes me sick and I am glad to live in a quieter place... for the most part.

A real shame, glad the scumbag that did it isn't sucking air anymore. We had a young officer get shot and killed locally a couple years ago. He was responding to a DV complaint and when the guy opened the door he shot and killed the officer. There was backup present and they killed that scumbag. The media here did it right and mentioned the scumbags name as being shot and killed and they covered the officers funeral and any memorial events for him and his family.

Well said John, I’d much rather be your neighbor than live in a State where everyday on the news I hear or read about another senseless shooting death. Drugs are running ramped everywhere. Meth labs hidden far into the mountain range, something a few DEA officers could not handle alone. Why SWAT teams are not used more prevalently would not be “ cost effective “ according to local government statements.

Around here the police are very careful on approach to a stopped vehicle. Got pulled about a month ago an I never even saw the guy's face. Nice guy. Gave me more grief for having a CCW and not carrying then speeding. The town where I frequent the local B&M has a lot of retired NYC folks on the force. Great guys and I'm sure they happier at the small town pace.
Sad to hear another man in blue has fallen.

Always hate seeing/hearing things like this. Our law enforcement professionals are truly heroes.
RIP Officer.
