I am going to have to take some time away from the pipe. I started to develop severely chapped lips and the area immediately above my actual upper lip. It got a little better so I went back to smoking and now it's really bad. I have meetings this morning for a project I have been really hopeful of winning and I look like the little kid who can't stop licking their lips in cold weather!
I assume this is from pursing the tip of the stem on my lip while I draw but I can't believe how nasty this has gotten! I've gone through multiple chap-sticks, steroid cream, anti-fungal cream, neosporin, and anything else I could find and nothing is helping.
Any voice of experience would be greatly appreciated as I am jonesing to continue my quest to find the right tobacco and the right packing method!

My son is terrible when it comes to licking his lips. The only thing that will clear it up is Carmex.

Carmex is good stuff.
If you leave the pipes for a while, when you go back to them at least you know to keep the chapstick on hand regularly.

An old Cajun Farm method told to me by my Grandfather, smear chicken 💩 on your lips and you won’t lick them.!

You might want to have a doctor look at that.

Might be from the hot smoke hitting your lips...I get a raw feeling particularly from straight Virginias...probably a Ph thing for me...but I noticed that with 5 years age on it, that seems to mitigate that raw feeling..YMMV.

I've never had much of this problem..What little problem I have had seems to come when I'm constantly smoking Vulcanite stems.Probably a chemical thing in my case.

Now you mention it, what works best for me (better than vaseline) is vicks vaporub. I think the menthol helps the healing process and speeds it up... Again, apply at night.
