As of 1963 it was regular Planters salted peanuts in a Dr Pepper at the Yale St Pharmacy next to Hamilton Junior High School. I can't speak to anyone else's experience. I tried it a couple of times because the older kids were doing it, but I really don't care for it and haven't done it since.

This thread gave me a craving for Virginia peanuts. The huge, starchy, flavoured ones they sell along the road.

Southern tradition! RC Cola and peanuts. Daddy was from Georgia and loved it. I don't see too many people enjoying this treat these days.

If they were out of peanuts, you could switch to a RC and Stageplank or Moon-pie RC went better with those, Coke was for peanuts. Southerners has a disearning palate.!

I put a peanut flavored whisky, called Screwball in Zevia cola. It is delicious.

We had a guy here that had a stand and made the best ones I've ever had. He is actually a 3rd or 4th cousin. But a few years ago he vanished. Now I have to make my own.

Peanuts in my coke? very often as a child and thru most of my adult life. Jump ahead to February of 2015 when I was diagnosed as a diabetic and my days of real Coke are over. I tried to drink Diet Coke for as long as I could take it which wasn't long at all. During the Diet Coke phase of my life I tried to enjoy peanuts in my Diet Coke thinking it would make that nasty panther piss more palletable, BOY WAS I WRONG! SO VERY VERY WRONG

Three friends when I was a teen, the 3 Ron's. Do we know each other from before? I too had two other friends named Ron, when ever someone would say, "Hey Ron!" we'd all turn around.
And yes, It was peanuts and Coke for us but, I always liked "Good & Plenty's in mine. Had to be real careful doing it cause if ya just plopped one or two in and took a big swig, it foam all over. Use to sneak up and drop one in friends cokes and it foam all over'em, LOL! These where bottles by the way, don't even think we had cans yet back then.
What can I say......I was always different.

I can't imagine the peanuts added to a can. The three Rons were always thought to be brothers by strangers. 2 of us survive. Last time we went out together we were accused of being brothers. Better than my real brothers.
