It depends on the context... there are firearms collectors with impressive resources that can accumulate the firearms and never pose any harm to another person.
If it is a societal reprobate that has a propensity to causing mayhem, that is a different situation.
Fortunately, if we are indeed a nation of laws, instead of a nation triggered by emotions, the proper course of action (or not) can take place.

Why were they seized?
Were they obtained by a fellon?
Were they obtained illegally?
I'm interested in learning the facts on this.

As I understand it, the owner appeared on radar as he was reported to be involded in illegal sales. Personally as long as one is law-abiding I could really care less. I mean, not too long ago a person was found to have over 1200 firearms. This was only discovered because he had passed on and when his belongings we're gone through it was found out how many he had. He never did anything wrong. But Im not getting into a political discussion.

I have a nephew who has around 400,and an old friend who has 200. Mostly hunting rifles. I had a girlfriend who's dad had 300, mostly high end shotguns. The average person I know have around 30 or so. And none of them live in Beverly Hills. People have 2000 pipes and people just think they have PAD. I promise that GAD exists. Some people collect cars, some railway lanterns, and some guns. A well made gun is a beautiful thing. This raid was promoted by an anonymous tip.

Very easy to accumulate, just like anything. Such a variety of areas to collect. The Colorado Gun Collectors annual show is next week here in Denver. It is like a huge temporary museum of rare and vintage firearms and Western memorabilia. And most everything has a price on it. I plan on picking up a few estate pipes from Tony Maddox while there. If you think you might be going, PM me and let me know.

I'm sure the same could be said of some of us when we pass on...
"How could someone own hundreds of pipes...?"

Good friend of mine has more than that...he has collected and has his dad's collection as well. Participates in monthly shoots and is very careful about everything involved...does his own reloading as most of those fellows/ladies do. Gets pounds of gunpowder on a fairly regular basis as well as bullets...when you are in competitions, you need all your stuff that you use. Serious people have serious stuff.

A bad guy doesn't need thousands, only 1 - 3. Guns, pipes fishing rods & tackle are all habit forming. Though I am not a collector of guns.

The guy with a thousand guns! If he's a Beverly Hills resident, you know these had to be pretty high end guns. Wonder what their net value is?

2 dozen is enough as long as you have it when you need it.

Pictures show only a handful of fully automatic weapons a BAR and a couple of Thompsons and a handful of M16 style rifles. Girard Saenz is the long time boyfriend of Cynthia Beck a very wealthy LA real estate mogul and part of the Getty oil family. The creepy part is Gordon Getty her husband is a polygamist and worth 2 billion. Yep this is strange one. Half the press releases say they are married and half say she is his mistress. He does not deny their three daughters together who want his last name a 17 million dollar estate in London and his money. Look into yourself it a great story.

The guy with a thousand guns! Ok, just wondering. I thought you might be having pipe envy, which would be strange considering the really nice pipes that you have for sale. On the news it looked like just a pile of guns. Some looked good, but some were just cheap crap. Not a Beverley Hills collection, just a hoard.

Actually, looking at the photos, it did not appear to be an important collection of valuable guns. A lot of military surplus from around the world. Many common revolvers. The evidence handlers did lay out a Colt Python, perhaps an eight inch, to the side of the hand gun pile. More info will come out on this, I imagine. Probable Cause to obtain a warrant suggests something was amiss. We shall see.

I looked at a bunch of pictures and there seemed to be a abundance of bolt action surplus. Whatever was in the collection it is a shame to stack it like cord wood.

I bet the Python never makes it to the evidence locker.

Actually, looking at the stills, there's some pretty nice stuff in that there pile. Time for the sprinkler system to come on. They better have some pretty good evidence of wrongdoing.

A quote from a TV lawyer.
"Sometimes, he said, dealers can overlook the correct paperwork and run afoul of the law, noting that sensational search warrants with piles of guns often end up without charges."

heavy.com/news/2019/05/girard-damien-saenz/1 bullet for every gun! "Live ammunition"...he should have stockpiled duds! The minimal amount for some handgun training....local shooter Rob Leatham goes through that in a day. I will withhold judgment until the facts come out, but the ATF has a long history of being dirty, hiring the mentally handicapped to conduct stings, protecting felons that are prohibited from owning guns, going after whistleblowers, promoting illegal behavior within their ranks and giving the guilty promotions and cushy jobs in DC, doctoring guns in the lab to get convictions.... If the guy is guilty, I hope he is prosecuted to the full extent of the law, but if he is innocent, I hope he has the coin to defend himself vigorously.....I just want the truth to come out.

I think the guy is a grandson of J. Paul Getty. I bet the LA DA is thrilled to be prosecuting this. If the ATF didn't screw up so much I would less sceptical. He is also a Federally licensed dealer. One reason I never set up shop as an "official" gunsmith is that I talked to some dealers and 'smiths and the stories they told about the ATF scared me off. They do not direct their energy to stopping criminals so much as setting up the dealers trying to do right. Low hanging fruit.
