Excuse me if I'm wrong, but I think congrats is not in order. Way to young an now only motherhood to look forward too.
If I'm reading this wrong buddy feel free to say so. But knowing 8 he'll be there for both.

Well Scrooge, a little info was added after the initial post. I also think some people miss follow on comments in long threads. I don't think anyone is saying the situation is great. Ted, you will be a top notch great granddad whatever comes, but we already knew that. I will pray for the best for your family, whatever that may be. PM me if you want to chat.

But knowing 8 he'll be there for both. 6, at this point my granddaughter is 7 weeks pregnant. So, I’ll accept congratulations from the many friends here on the Patch. However, I definitely see your point, I’m not happy about this at all. I must accept the inevitable and move on in a positive manner for my daughter, granddaughter and the baby. The father of my great grandchild needs to step up to the plate. |

Congratulations, Ted. Not what you expected or hoped for your granddaughter at this point in her life or with this boyfriend, but all children are a gift from God. I hope everything works out well for your family.

Early termination is acceptable in my book but not once a heartbeat is detected (before 10 weeks) Far too many young girls view motherhood in a non-realistic light, not understanding that parenthood is one of the hardest things we'll ever face in life. Her life will never be the same again. Then there's the expense. At least she has a caring family around her. But let's hope that she doesn't dump the child on her mother, as many do these days when reality hits. It would be great if the father steps up to the plate, assuming he's a decent guy. Sometimes it's for the best when they don't. Good luck & I hope that things turn out well for all concerned. |
