Ever since I started puffing on mostly Borkum. I keep hearing about the dreaded tongue bite.
And in all the bowls I’ve had somehow I’ve never had that happen to me.
But apparently nicotine poisoning can happen because after a bowl last night which happened to be my third of the day I thought I had food poisoning and coated a gas station garbage can in puke.
So I ask between the two what is worse?

Your asking the difference between a sore tongue and flu symptoms. I'll take a sore tongue over nausea any day. I would say you just suffered from a little overindulgence. Nicotine poisoning can lead to hospital time.

I would agree. I hate the feeling of nausia, so I would take tongue bite over nicotine sickness.
However, given the third option of neither, I'd go for that.

I would much rather a stinging tongue or even the dreaded burnt roof of the mouth from eating a hot slice of pizza than nicotine spins and nausea.

Never been sick from nicotine. As a young teenager a mate & I would visit the cities tobacconists to buy Winston, Camel non-filters, Temple Bars, Gitanes & Indonesian kretek (clove) cigs. Stronger the better we thought.
Since giving up the cigs nearly 9 years ago however, I have not had a single cigarette & I intentionally choose mild to very low nicotine content in blends. To the point where I miss out on trying certain popular blends. Nicotine addiction is something that I don't miss.
I'm prone to tongue bite however. Rather than tongue bite itself, some blends heat my entire mouth.
As I avoid nicotine, tongue bite is definitely worse.

I would agree. I hate the feeling of nausia, So I'm not the only one? Pain is something that I've learnt to handle to a certain degree. Nausea however, is the worst feeling.

Possibly something you ate rather than nicotine poisoning?? It was only your third bowl of the day. Any consumption of nicotine other than pipe tobacco enter your body? I smoke anywhere from 12 to 17 various blends a day, I don’t inhale and never experienced a severe nicotine buzz. Do you inhale?? An article concerning nicotine poisoning............ www.webmd.com/smoking-cessation/nicotine-poisoning-can-you-overdose

Nicotine sickness is indescribably bad for me! It's like the feeling you get right before you are going to puke from over-drinking but it lasts for an hour or more. Dizzy, nauseated, sweats, I hate tongue bite too but I would rather have it than nicotine sickness.

I'm not sure if it was nicotine poisoning g that you experienced. 3 bowls in 1 day, even inhaling, is not that much nicotine. I guess if you have a very very low tolerance it could be.
I'd take tongue bite over nausea any day.

I don't think I've ever had Nicotine poisoning. I've had some strong Nic hits the set me on my arse, but never poisoning. Like Ted said, maybe it was food poisoning.

I've never gotten a nic hit from smoking a pipe, though I did get tobacco poisoning from working in the fields as a teenager. Much worse than any time I've had the flu.

Although I can't stand to have a sick stomach, overdoing it on nicotine goes away a LOT quicker for me than a tongue bite. So for me its a toss up.

I have learned to recognise when I start to get a nic hit. My head will spin a little and I'll slow down or stop smoking for a little while. Three bowls doesn't seem like very much. I have never thrown up from a nic hit. Well, if you don't count swallowing a wad of Red Man Plug once. One of those things you try to only do once in life.

I got nauseated just thinking about smoking 3 bowls of Borkum Riff back to back. Move up to M79 or Captain Black Grape.

I've gotten light-headed from smoking a pipe too fast, but just recently I thought I was getting a heart attack, or stroke.....the nausea dizziness, sweating and retching was very unsettling, and I was minutes away from dialing 911. Vomiting cleared my head and I felt a lot better after drinking some Ginger Ale. I was convinced I just had a silent heart attack and made an appointment with my doctor.
After thinking about it, I realized I had been fasting for Lent and was smoking some stronger, new blend of tobaccos (that a friend mixed) in my pipe, and, I did it all on an empty stomach. A classic, amateur mistake. But wait!... I have been smoking a pipe for many years and never had this horrible experience before. This time I got knocked on my fat arse.
As a much younger man, in my salad days, my friends and I polished off obscene amounts of beer and hard liquor, and on some occasions I did get sick to my stomach from too much drinking...but never did I get so violently sick and dizzy. Moral of this story:....Strong tobacco and an empty stomach nearly sent me to the emergency room. Nic hit ain't good.
Nicotine poisoning is something I would def try to avoid. BTW the follow-up EKG showed nothing wrong, thank God.
The pipe, was the cause of it all!

Tongue bite is worse for me. I kick myself for smoking too fast when it happens. I use to smoke some really strong vitamin N Cubans pre-1994 and had no issues with it. Recently the one that got me drunk was Black XX. You need to eat a steak before smoking.

Tongue bite fo sho. The spins wear off after a brief break, but a nasty case of tongue-bite can mean an entire ruined day or more of smoking for me.

I will take tongue bite any day over nic sick. Tongue bite gives you many more cues that it is coming on and you have ample time to adjust or simply put it down to avoid it. Nic sickness tends to ramp up out of nowhere and before you can catch it it is too late.
I can remember early on when I started with cigars. I was working from home and my neighbor invited me over for a cigar after lunch. I felt like I ate a decent lunch. Throughout the smoke I was also having to relight a bit which is bad form for cigars and also causes a lot more nicotine in your system. I made it through the smoke but wasn't much of a conversationalist for the last 20 minutes.
Went back to my home office and sat motionless gripping the edges of the desk for stability. Googled remedies and found that if you eat some sugar it can offset. Downed about 4 tablespoons of sugar and held on for another hour or so. It was aweful.

I'm glad I haven't experienced that.

Cigars that require relight or that you have to pull on too hard to get air through I put down immediately and don't smoke. Both are bad signs that you're not going to enjoy it anyway.

+1 for a slight nicotine buzz, which I rarely get because I don’t inhale. When I smoke a strong cigar and have to do a number of re-lights can effect me sometimes, many cigar smokers as sperrytops stated, a tight draw can definitely effect your ability to stand and can cause severe nausea. I’ve seen BIG guys fall to their knees after smoking an “ air bender “ cigar.

And on Borkum Riff..? I think that may have been something other than the nicotine.

I agree if one smokes Borkum Riff it would be difficult to get a severe nic hit or nausea unless you inhale. Only God knows what toppings are in Borkum Riff.....lol. PS A blend like Borkum Riff is best when not smoked overly moist or your more likely to get that dreaded tongue bite.
