Talamona pipes were named after a town in Italy where many pipes are made. There have been a few generations of Talamona pipes, this one looks like a second generation based on the stamping. The Talamona brand factory made budget friendly pipes during that generation up until around the year 2002. But budget friendly doesnt mean a bad pipe - Talamona pipes from that timeframe were some of the best budget friendly pipes on the market, and usually retailed for $80-$120, so $20.00 unsmoked is a great deal.
Talamona stopped making pipes in the mid 2000s and was then picked up by Paolo Croci around 2013. The newer Talamona pipes are stamped "Talamona by Paolo Croci". I have both a second generation and third generation Talamona, both are good smokers.
Basically, you received a nice Italian made pipe for $20.00 - and that is a great deal. Congrats!

Thanks for all the responses and info guys! When looking at all this info I was surprised to see some of the high prices for the Talamona Elite series. But even if it was a lower priced pipe, the way this one smokes is right up there with the likes of other great Italian pipes. Yeah, sometimes we get lucky and find a great deal for the money, but a pipe that smokes really well is always a great deal.  |
