This is the second pipe that I bought at the Chicago Pipe Show this year.
I've been trying to follow a philosophy of quality over quantity at pipe shows. While some people come home with 5 or 6 pipes from a pipe show, I am instead focusing on only buying 1 or maybe 2 higher end pipes at a show and probably spending about the same as the quantity buyers. There's nothing wrong with the quantity approach, but I already have a lot of pipes and this helps me to slow the growth of my collection while also getting some very nice pipes.
I came across this pristine condition, lightly smoked Tom Eltang bent Acorn (Snail grade) when I stopped past the Smoking Pipes penthouse suite on Friday afternoon. I had gone there just to sit and have a pipe in a quiet spot while enjoying a couple of free espressos. Of course, I ended up browsing through the pipes. I found this little beauty in the Danish Estates section and was offered a good price on it.
