The Goodwill down the road has a well-used curved 4-pipe rack with a Rumidor of Orange, New Jersey humidor sitting behind it in the curve. The Rumidor, which I think is actually for cigars, is a very unusual marbled, cream colored copper. Maybe its enameled? The only interesting pipe was an old, used Earl of Essex bent Rohdesian, and there was a wooden pipe(?) with no bend, an hourglass shape and a screen over the end. Weird. I would have picked it up, but they wanted $125.00.

Pipe and rack available separately? The Essex is French. Decent smokers that go on EBay in the $10.00-20.00 range.

The Rumidor looks like this, but it's a cream/rose colored marbling. The one pictured I found selling for about $80.00 Canadian online, but couldn't find anything else on it.

It's certainly not a bargain. If it appeals to you then you have a decision to make. It is unusual and decorative but I wouldn't want to keep pipe tobacco in it.

Yes, way too much. I've been researching, trying to figure out why it was so high, if someone knew something I didnt. Figured ignorance was why it's priced that high. I passed on it. My wife is buying me glass candy jars at Hobby Lobby for $4.00.

At least a pipe was there. I've had a feeling the past few years, that these major Thrifts are tossing pipes and just selling racks and humidors.

It’s a bit pricey, pass on this and keep your eyes open.........good luck. I’ve seen a number of pipe racks at two local thrift shops. Yet to see a pipe in the 5 years I’m living down South. I’d venture to say they have no clue, but because of the chamber of a pipe being caked up and the stem looks like it has “ yellow mold “ to them.....the pipes are being tossed in the garbage. I’m sure they’ve thrown out thousands of dollars in pipes!

I've been told by some who work in thrift stores here in the south that they don't get many pipes, and the ones they do get aren't in very good shape and not easy to sell.

A guy I spoke to at a flea market said that he used to get loads of pipes but not anymore. He said he thinks people have twigged on to the value they have and are floating then on ebay themselves.

OH, my, that looks a lot like an urn for ashes of someone who's been cremated. Regardless, not a good storage medium.

Here in South Carolina, any antique / junktique I visit within a few hours of Greenville which has (or had) pipes say that they get'em in and people buy'em up. It's unusual to find anything decent, but at least there are some shops which do get them in and sell them.

I've hardly ever seen a pipe in goodwill or antique store here in California. Might be because the state is so anti smoke.

Another factor over here is that any charity shops are raising money for cancer research so it would be kinda ironic (and paradoxical maybe) if they're selling smoking devices that are linked with cancer in order to raise money to fight cancer.

I've hardly ever seen a pipe in goodwill or antique store here in California. Might be because the state is so anti smoke. I believe that in the case of Goodwill, it is left up to the manager of the individual store and some of them put it on par with a jock strap or enema bag donation... off to the dumpster... in their mind, no one would want them. They have the option of putting them on the Goodwill auction site, but few stores seem to participate.

I've had more luck in antique shops for pipes than thrift stores, and have visited more than a few. By luck I mean I've seen a bunch, but nothing that was right for me. Nada in thrift stores, be they for SPCA, schools, cancer or private consignment shops.
