Just got in the mail today from SPC a brand new Radice briar. I didn't have time to fire her up today and was a little bit shy about it since I am worried about burn out. I have just returned to smoking after about a 3 year hiatus and had experiences in the past of pipe burn out. Each time SPC replaced the pipe or gave me store credit on those high end pipes. I just want to make sure that a) I don't have any darkening on the rim and b) don't have any signs of a burnout. I have a Kiribi soft flame lighter and will make sure I just touch the tobacco and lift off before any darkening can occur. I will also smoke the pipe very slowly and if it gets warm at all, I will set it down no matter how many relights to complete the bowl. If you all have any suggestions I am all ears!! This pipe has a nice overall length of about 6.41 inches and has bowl depth of about 2.02 inches. The sandblasting shows extremely nice rings of grain which really are striking on this black pipe. I am excited to see how she tastes with Levant Mixture by Drucquer and Sons. This should be a treat!! Thanks! Gary

Break the pipe in slowly, you should have no issues building up a thin layer of cake fairly easy. I usually break in a new briar with Carter Hall or a Butternut Burley. May you enjoy your new pipe for many happy and healthy years of smoking pleasure.........CONGRATULATIONS πππ

Congratulations. It would be great to see it. Take the break-in easy and you'll be grand.

Gary A Radice should be very resistant to burnout, but if you make a habit of it then I suggest that you wipe some warm honey inside the bowl to speed up the carbon buildup.

Hi folks, I have smoked my Radice Stack about 6 times now and am seeing just the faint start of a cake. Anyways, there are no burnout spots seen which I am really greatful. I have been taking it slow and letting the pipe go out every time it gets hot to my finger tips. The pipe really draws great and does not gurgle. I can smoke it easily to the bottom of the bowl with a fine ash. All in all I am extremely pleased with the pipe and see many years of enjoyable use. My Best, Gary

You made a wise decision with your purchase of a Radice pipe. JMHO......Radice Pipes are made from high quality materials, extremely well crafted, no finer pipes are manufactured in Italy. Thatβs a pipe youβll enjoy for a lifetime πππ

Radice pipes are a great bargain. Artisan quality at a factory price. Can't beat them.
