In shipping the pipes I sold in the auction I noticed the post office makes me press yes to verify that the address on the screen is correct. So today I asked why they make me do this and he said "to assume responsibility that the package is going to correct address" I said "I handed you a package with the correct address, so if it's wrong, you mis-typed it!" He said "all post offices do this" I said "must be nice to be able to force someone to take responsibility for your work".
Only the US Post Office!

Yep, my local post master was a pain in the arse, went to buy a teal hunting stamp, which is always in Sept, he said you can buy them next month. I said Oh you buy them after the season. Pissed me off so much he’s lucky it’s a Federal offense to slap a federal worker.

It's not only the post office. After Fedex enters the address info...they have you look at the address to confirm that it's correct. Everyone is covering themselves. It's a reflection of our times it seems.

It's a reflection of our times it seems. Now, I just don't have a problem with Fedex doing this because you are just confirming whether they have competently entered the information you have provided. My local post office has never asked me about the address on a package I'm shipping. However, they have questioned the zip code a time or two. The last time it was because a new zip code had been added to the area I was shipping the package to. At least, that's what the Post Office said even after I showed them the address I had been sent.

Only the US Post Office! None-the-less, it's a good thing, as it increases the chances of your package getting to the right place. It's not just about them doing a cya.

It's a way for them to absolve themselves of the responsibility for their own work. Imagine hiring someone to build something for you and before they will start the work they make you sign a statement saying that you accept the responsibility that they fully understand what you want?

When I did contract drafting work, I had every customer sign a document which basically said the same thing. Keeps everyone honest.

Post offices here in NC have been using this practice for over 6 months. It covers their butts insurance wise that the package was “ supposedly “ delivered to the correct address. Doesn’t cover when they damage a package!
Charlie’s way using PayPal is the way to go👌👍👍

I've had as many (or as few) problems with the Post Office as I've had with UPS or Fedex. I do like their priority mail, 3 days with tracking. Otherwise I put up with their peculiarities. They are no better or no worse than any of the others.

My biggest issue with them is that everything is "maybe" "about" "2 to 5 days" "probably" "should be"

I always send packages priority tracking #...that way there is an automatic $50.00 insurance on it...they hate to pay out...so the chances of your package going where it is supposed to go is usually increased.
