I smoked cigarettes for years before switching to pipes full time about 16 years ago. I have never experienced any king of nic-hit from pipe tobacco. I assume it is because of all the unfiltered cigarettes ( Lucky Strike) I smoked over the years.

Never inhale if you can avoid it. I like a good solid nic hit. In addition to the above, try Captain Earles Ten Russians. A large bowl of it might leave you shaking like an off-balance washing machine!

Do you inhale when smoking a pipe? No. I have never inhaled when smoking a pipe since my first bowl. One inhale and I coughed for 20 minutes or more.

Although I know of many pipe smokers that inhale. I don’t and have never been effected by a nic buzz. If your getting a buzz and don’t inhale I’d suggest you smoke a very mild pipe blend.

I, too, got a nice nic hit when I accidentally swallowed some Red Man juice...that was a hoot...boss was laughing so hard he was crying while I was puking it up and not having a good time of it.

...never had a nic-hit, but I sympathize with those who do... same. But I don't inhale either... I'm a healthy pipe smoker. 😉

You don't have to inhale, nicotine enters your bloodstream. Medium is as high a I can tolerate without getting sick and what's the point of that?

There are a few blends that get my stomach in a knot, but I still enjoy them for that very reason.
It's kind of strange since I smoked Marlboro Reds and Marlboro full flavored menthols for almost 20 years. And now I keep my nose loaded with snuff as long as I'm awake.
But still, more often than not, a big bowl of Dark Plug or Brown Bogie will make me say "uncle."

Medium is as high a I can tolerate without getting sick and what's the point of that? ...everything enters one's bloodstream... the air you breathe, the food you eat, the beverages you drink, the stuff you smoke... if it doesn't bother, lucky you... if it does, even if you don't inhale, adjust accordingly... and those, such as myself, who have no trouble with it, should be understanding of those who do...

I've never felt sick because of nicotine, but I do occasionally feel it (I smoke mostly english/balkan stuff so not real strong, and I don't inhale). The last thing I'm after when smoking a pipe is nicotine, and if nic-free versions of my favorite blends were available (and they were as good) I wouldn't think twice...

Ok I feel sorry for all those folks who can not enjoy a full flavor blend and it makes em puke all over their shoes.

I still smoke cigarettes and I can definitely feel the nic-hit with some of the stronger blends. I find it enjoyable. I also slack off when I notice it coming on, so it rarely gets out of hand.
Just a thought- I may notice nicotine readily in part because of how much retro-haling I do. There are tons of capillaries in the nose with only a fine membrane separating the blood from the vitamin N, so I probably absorb more than one who does not retro-hale.

I smoked cigs for about 25 years, quit smoking altogether for 10 and picked up a pipe. Some blends that are mild hit me hard and others that are supposed to have a big nic hit never bother me.I guess it depends on the individual, brown rope works, but a lot of times I get a big nic hit off of SJ Rimboche, which is supposed to be mild.

After pipe smoking for over 50 years I can't really say I've gotten what some call a "nic hit" . I did smoke unfiltered Pall Malls for about 20 years and did get a nic hit from those but never from any pipe 'baccy and that includes the ropes. Different strokes for different folks!
