So I'm looking for a good tobacco pouch. I bought a cheap pipe pouch off of Amazon and it has actually served me well. It came with a small pouch for the tobacco and it on the other hand has not served me well. It drys out the tobacco very quickly. I've been using the ziplock style bags that the local tobacco store sells their bulk tobacco in and they work well enough. I'd like something with a bit more style though.
What are some of the things to look for in a good quality tobacco pouch? My first guess is the lining of the pouch matters most. Not sure what the best is though. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Hey, man. Welcome to the Patch. I believe you're right. I think the sewn-in cloth in some like my own allows more air in than if it were a simple, unlined, all-leather pouch that could possibly close up more tightly. I use this pouch by Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation. I have the $30 one in natural leather. To be honest, it is really only ideal for short-term storage. Depending on the moisture of the tobacco when placed inside, you really should plan on smoking it that day or maybe that weekend, if filled and tossed in your pocket for a short trip.
I'd like to get on etsy or a like site and find a higher quality one some day, but for now, I do like mine- So long as I remember to smoke what I put in it in a timely fashion.
As far as plastic bags, you may not look as dapper, but it will certainly solve the issue.

Quoted for truth.
Whenever I use a leather pouch, I have the tobacco inside a plastic bag.. the snack size fits well. Putting it in a baggie helps keep the Virginia blends from tasting like an English bend and vice-versa. Not an issue if you dedicate a pouch as a go to blend, in regards to ghosting the pouch.

Good point. I hadn't thought of that aspect, but I've been lucky as I usually load mine with PS:LNF, HHBF, or Solani ABF- Mainly cause they're favourites, but also, I hoped the flakes would last longer. Error on the side of victory! Haha

Same here, if or when I use my tobacco pouch inside you’ll find whatever tobacco I’m smoking packed tightly in a small Ziplock bag. Holds up well for a much longer period of time👍👍👍

The Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation rollup is what I use...thanks for the idea of putting a ziplock bag in it...never thought of it. This particular pouch is, for me, a great one....I can codger scoop pretty much any pipe.

Pouches protect the tobacco and other items, they can keep the tobacco fresher a little longer than just leaving it out. But best is use a small sandwich baggie inside the pouch. I usually don't leave tobacco in a pouch for long periods. I put enough in there for 1 day or 2-3 days, if I'm out or on a short trip. I'll try to finish whatever I pack int the pouch during the period I'm out. Another quality pouch is Martin Wess, which can be found at TobaccoPipes. I have two of those and they serve me well. And, welcome to the Patch.
