So we've had quite a bit of rain here in Western Illinois and now it's warming up and the bugs are bad. Gnats are always an issue in may/June but this year they are really bad and I fully expect the mosquitoes to be bad as well. What do ya'll recommend for a yard treatment to keep the pesky critters away? I believe there are pellets and sprays but am just now getting ready to do some research.

Here in the mosquito capitol of the world (Florida) we use some Avon's Skin so soft spray or lotion should do the trick.

I find an aerial burst of Plutonium 239 does a good job of removing most pests from my area. Of course, I cannot hang around too long outside before returning to the shelter. This is New Mexico.

Thank you so much. That gives me a great starting point. I will be shopping at my local farm store so I will find something there similar or the same.

Does Sam's Club carry it? π

At my fishing camp a friend rigged his riding lawn mower with a Malathion injection on his exhaust and plumed it downwards low to the grass, would cut and spray for mosquitoes at the same time. Don't know what it did to his lungs though.

We have lots of mosquitoes here, but they go to my wife if she's with me. All the wildlife around here eats them. Every thing except humans eat them. Who is REALLY at the top of the food chain? π¨π¨π¨π€€π²π€

I'm just thankful that we don't have mosquitoes here in Ireland.
I'm useless to help you, but I wish you well in your endeavours.

If you think the flooding is bad in Illinois, you ought to see what all that chemical-laden run-off is doing to the lower Mississippi River.

Is that why there is no grass in New Mexico?

Back in the early 90's I was with the 182nd Airlift Wing out of Peoria, IL. We spent months sand-bagging and guarding levees while living in snake and bug infested areas. Good times! We've got a new type of mosquito to our area called a Tiger Mosquito and they are horrible. The bites itch much worse and leave more swelling. Deep Woods Off is the only thing that they seem to not treat as a condiment.

Deep Woods Off is the only thing that they seem to not treat as a condiment. I know what you mean. I was born and raised on the gulf coast (SE Texas and Louisiana) and served in the Coast Guard for 21 years. Worked several major seasonal floods in the bayou areas west of the Mississippi. Snakes and bugs are bad but don't even think about sharing a tent with a gator. LOL. Don't know about Tiger Mosquitos but I've had success with a few things with the mosquitos in SE Louisiana where I live now: Deep Woods Off and Bug-Off (recommended by my son-in-law who is a charter captain) are two sprays. An old-timer I know says he just eats Tabasco sauce on everything and it causes the mosquitos to explode when they bite him. (Don't know if it works, but mosquitos don't seem to bite him.) And, my personal favorite - Light a bowl heavy in Latakia and Perique. (Also good for creating some alone time when I don't want to be bothered with the wife's chattering."
