I am looking for some suggestions on how to take a selection of pipes with me when I go away for the weekend? I am mainly wanting to carry 4-6 pipes but all the items I can find on line are for a couple pipes, tobacco, and accessories combined. I will usually take a few tins or jars, and a large W.O. Larson tin with accessories so I don't need the pouch or roll up to handle that; just pipes.
A creative way to use something around the house would be even better. Maybe a crown Royal bag and some socks?
Any ideas?

I use a Herfador. It is made for cigars but works perfectly for pipes. They come in various sizes. I typically us a 40 count size that I bought on cigarbid.com for cheap. it has several layers of foam padding that can be removed as needed. I have carried as many as eight pipes plus a selection of tobaccos, pipe cleaners, lighters, etc. I've a smaller 5 count size but have not used it for pipe hauling, although I think it would work for at least four pipes.
It is a hard shell case and provides great protection. However, not something you can stick in a jacket pocket.

Tobacco Pipes has a good selection of pipe pouches. Some of these carry 4-5 pipes. At that size, might get a bit pricey, though. Someone else suggested using an old camera case. Those are usually set top with compartments for camera and lenses. Good for carrying a large variety of pipes and tobaccos.

Under the Thread, Finally found my pipe bag. Is what I use. It holds 4 pipes, supplies and multiple jars or tins. Target carries it for $10.00.

I have a leather pipe and tobacco carry all I purchased off of Amazon. Holds four pipes and roughly 3 .oz of tobacco I store in a small Ziplock bag. Also hold accessories and pipe cleaners. If you have any camera cases big enough they make an excellent carry all for all your pipes and needs👌👍👍

I would use a camera bag. Cheap and a few compartments too.

We have a member here that makes custom bags. Just can't remember his name. Or good ol Tim West on ebay.

If you are going away for just two day, i.e. the weekend I need to ask how many pipes in that time do you usually smoke? When I've gone away for a weekend, even a week long trip I've taken usually 3 pipes at the most and usually only my fave blend for smoking. Means 1 leather roll-up with 1 pipe and 'baccy with the other two in jacket pockets. Has worked for me for 50 years !

I picked up this pipe bag as an estate consignment where our pipe club meets, and got a really great deal. No Manufacturers marks, but it looks like a knock off copy Martin Wess bags. www.tobaccopipes.com/martin-wess-pipe-pouches/ 9''X 7"X 3"...mine is a 5 pipe bag. . In the one close up pic, around the inside borders, you can see a rope like covered leather that really beefs it up, and helps retain the shape....a detail worth looking for.

If you're frugal like me- Most of my cash goes toward pipes and tobbaco, so I haven't yet splurged on a decent pipe roll. I have a cheap hard case that holds two pipes nicely, but when I leave for the weekend, I just have a $10 shaving kit I bought off Amazon. The zipp-up compartments hold cleaners, lighters, and tampers. As far as the inside- plenty of room to stack 6-8 tins as well as a handful of cobs/grabows and the pipes I include that I actually care about scratching- I just put those in pipe socks and lay em in there.
That being said; I'll buy a sexy, leather roll one of these days, but this is a practical and effective solution for the moment.

I find no need for any special gear to carry my pipes on a trip. Sometimes I put them in pipe socks, sometimes my socks or shoes, often in nothing but a suitcase or messenger bag.

Another vote for Maxpedition. I use their Accordion Utility Pouch, holds three pipes, lighter(s), tools, cleaners, and ziplock baggies of tobacco just great.

The key part of the design is the staggered loops for the pipes. Look carefully at how the pipes fit into the loops. Each loop prevents the pipe above and below it from knocking into any part of the pipe it protects. You can tuck the whole bowl into the gap between flaps.
If the loops are all in a row, you don't have that protection. It's the long, flappy loops set at an offset from one another that make the design good.

I carry pretty much the same bag as Trailboss, except it's an actual Martin Wess instead of a clone. Not that it matters. His looks very nice.

Jeff, Shoulder holsters, cross draw style, with a nose warmer in an ankle holster for backup? Maybe a 4th tucked SOB? Joking aside, I have a smallish backpack that I use for away from home smoking adventures. Plenty of space for various and sundry tins, pipes and other accoutrements. Good luck on your search for the perfect carry kit. ExChef

Thanks for all the great ideas! I think for now, I am going to use some sunglasses bags with drawstrings and a large Crown Royal bag. This way I can just throw it in my bag and stuff my clothes around it
