Define expert? I have cleaned upwards of 50 in my day. I know some of the history and such on the eras but couldn't tell you their board of directors names.

Go ahead and ask away, I’m sure one of us can help. I know a gentleman from Florida that makes “ the Bent System “ and his own Kirsten bowl fittings. Only way you’ll get parts from Kirsten direct is you must purchase a new pipe. They won’t sell you a bowl fitting separately, I know this from personal experience.

1. Clenchability .........I have no issues clenching my Kirsten Pipes, with either the straight or Bent System. Any size bowl as well. I use rubber bits on the stems which give me the capability to use my teeth if/when needed. No chatter on stems. 2. Comparative smokeability to a Falcon......I find my Kirsten’s smoke a bit cooler. Easy to clean the metal shank with a small piece of paper towel rolled up and pipe cleaner through the stem. 3. Availability of replacement parts.......Kirsten direct from the dealer does “ NOT “ like to sell any parts unless you purchase a new Kirsten from her. Call Doug from Florida ....727 465 6131. He will answer all your parts needs. He also restores and sells Kirsten Pipes. Only part that may need replacement after a few years of use are the “ O “ rings. Which Doug sells or you can purchase at any Home Depot or Lowe’s Hardware store. 4. Availability of replacement bowls......I’ve found and purchased 6 on eBay, 4 were new. Also Don Warren makes and sells custom made bowls for Kirsten Pipes......briar and Morta/Bog wood bowls at very reasonable prices. 5. Resale / trade value.......there are still pipe smokers that look to purchase used Kirsten Pipes. Higher resale than a Falcon!!! Below is my restored Kirsten I purchased from Doug with a Don Warren custom made Tulip Bowl. I enjoy smoking my Kirsten and change bowls often and easy. I purchased the Bent System from Doug.

The only thing I don’t like about my bent Kirsten is the acrylic stem.

I agree with ALL of Ted's responses, for starters.
Falcons smoke excellent. For me...Kirstens are even better. A friend once told me (before I smoked one) that his "Kirsten could smoke itself". Once I refurbished and smoked one, I knew exactly what he meant.
One bit on re-sale - bent Kirstens sell for considerably more than straight.

Need to know 1. Clenchability - Better than most. 2. Comparative smokeability to a Falcon - equal if not better. 3. Availability of replacement parts - stems are a bitch to find. End caps and screws are next hardest. 4. Availability of replacement bowls - easy. 5. Resale / trade value. - good, there is a nice following.
I find them easier to clean than a falcon. I think the people in Seattle are making a mistake not selling parts but I do not know the contract with the producer so maybe there is a catch. The guy in Florida is a nice guy and has helped the brand imo.
