Nice looking pipe. You did a great job on refinishing it. As for the stem, it's similar to one I have on a Sven Lar from the late 70's. Today's Il Duca's are quite expensive, if this is the same brand. In which case I think you found yourself a gem for $25.

Holey moley, that's a beautiful pipe. You've done a great job restoring it, not that I knew what it looked like before, but it looks great now.
And for $25, that's a real bargain. I hope it smokes well for you.

Thanks for the comments guys! I'm really happy with this pipe, it smokes great with a nice open draw. The stem end and button are a little thick and clunky so I might have to sand them down. It's still a puzzle for me that I have never noticed or heard of these pipes. There seems to be a Duca Carlo, Milano and Paolo too, all listed as Savinelli sub brands or seconds. I don't know why they would cast this as a second, there are no fills or flaws anywhere in the Briar. Tis a mystery...

Not to beat a dead horse here, but I found something interesting online possibly pertaining to this pipe. I found this older NOS Savinelli Autograph at J. L. Peretti's that they had in their estate pipes. It looked quite familiar to me. Maybe these Duca pipes were Autograph seconds. Many think that Estellas are Autograph seconds, and they could be, but this looks much closer to my pipe. I don't know for sure, but the similarities seem to be there. It might explain where the Duca series of pipe originated, but not why they were discontinued. Verry interesting...

You got me Ron. I've never seen one of those, but then I've not been looking for one either. Very nice looking pipe though.

You got me Ron. I've never seen one of those, but then I've not been looking for one either. Very nice looking pipe though. It's a Mon Ami that Savinelli makes as gifts for special friends of the company. They aren't all as nice as this one, but all that I have been able to find any info on (3) are at least Punto Oro quality. The grain on this one appears to be Giubileo d'Oro quality. The original owner must have been a very good friend of Savinelli indeed.
