Good mornin everyone!
Didn’t get to post yesterday, but I did celebrate the “no tobacco day” with a bowl of GL Pease Embarcadero in the Medico Guardsman, and some Sutliff African Queen in a cob.
This am going out to patio and having a Washington cob full of a custom lane mixture blended by a fellow patcher. Happy smokes everyone and enjoy the weekend!

SWRA in the 1960s straight Falcon w/rusticated apple bowl. Finishing up the espresso. New editing commission was in the email this morning, so I may end up working, even though I don't feel like it.

Ted (and everyone else), I unfortunately fell victim to romance fraud. Everything is ok. My financials are safe but my body is not. Probably from the stress at my age and preexisting issues.. I am getting medical treatment now in the United States. I was being held hostage by a family of criminals in a house and I had to sneak out in the middle of the night in a taxi and headed straight for the airport. I can say for sure that I am done with women now. Just me, my books, my pipes, my cats, and close friends.
My first pipe in about 5-6 weeks is Holiday Mixture in a MM cob.

...sorry to hear that unknownpipesmoker ... I've had several friends fall into the same sort of thing overseas... Everything was sweet until about two weeks after I arrived. I began to notice money was missing from my wallet every 3 days or so. Then it was a trip to see the family. Then I wasn't allowed to leave. Then they took my wallet and passport away from me. I discovered where they hid my passport and made a careful plan to escape. I made a friend in the neighbourhood I could trust who coordinated a cab for me. My nerves were on edge until I passed through immigration control and Suvarnabhumi airport. I have no doubt they were there looking for me that very night. Its amazing I was able to get on a flight to Dubai. After many years of vacationing in Thailand, I have seen the country for what it really is. Its a nest of criminality with very few exceptions. If you plan on visiting Thailand, be warned and be careful.

Unknown...my heart goes out to you....back when you were so excited about new romance, I thought to myself...this is trouble, I've seen it before, but was not my place to say something that would bring you down...so sorry to see it come to true. My wife's son married a Thai lady...but I felt from the very moment I met her, she was different...she worked hard to support herself and family and now her husband....so it can happen, that wonderful life does exist. Now you have to take care of yourself...and not feel taken in...it can happen to anyone...and you have friends here who care, so you are not by yourself.

I feel sorry that this new love and romance wasn’t what was expected, but Its a good thing it didn’t go much further than it did! Welcome back, and I hope the overall recovery (emotional, physical, and spiritual) from this goes well! We’re here for you!

Enjoyed a couple of tasty cheese burgers, and am a quarter of the way through this bowl of D&R A.B. Rimboche in a 1938 straight black grain relief Dunhill OX Shell bulldog with a silver band repair and a black vulcanite saddle stem. A bottle of Cheerwine made with pure cane sugar is my drink.

If everything goes well, maybe I can have this first surgery, and be in Mass. on the 22nd to see Dead & Company.

Good to see ya, Sid...hope you and family are doing well. UPS...life goes on...and you with it. You are fortunate to get away with your life and be able to do it safely. Bad as things might be here in the States....still the best place on earth to be living. Got a bowl of Plum Pudding SR in a straight grained volcano, made by a first timer (carver) several years ago...sent as a gift was his first time carving on briar...did a pretty good job and has been a great smoker from day one.
