I'm ASSUMING that if this is in the wrong place, some moderator will yell and scream at me and then move it. Made a 4-day trip to visit my sisters in SE Texas and of course that included walking around flea markets, antique shops and malls and junktique shops. Here's my finds: 1. Made a pit stop in Baton Rouge at The Pink Elephant and stumbled onto a pipe stamped "Savinelli Product" under "Bayou Tobacco." This is obviously a full bent pipe produced for the Bayou Tobacco pipe and cigar shop which was open until last year. 2. I found a small Scottie Dog pipe single pipe holder that only set me back $6 in Lumberton, Texas 3. A beautiful (in my eyes) ceramic tobacco jar. Found is an antique shop in Vidor, Texas, and, in the same store... 4. A small, cast iron Brighton 3 tobacco plug cutter with a Jester on top. The entire haul only set me back $130.

Joe, you keep hitting the jackpot, keep your streak going......congratulations. I use to enjoy stopping at old antique shops back in the day.....when there was no Internet and prices were super cheap!!! Anything pipes or clocks I couldn’t pass up.

Nice haul... nice to see a plug cutter that isn’t rusted badly.
Googling says that it is made by Brighton.

Nice haul... nice to see a plug cutter that isn’t rusted badly. Googling says that it is made by Brighton. I think this is a reproduction of the Brighton model from the late 1800s made by John Wright Co. in the early 1970s.

Awesome cutter - that Sav house pipe are the ones I am referring to when I describe those off brands to look for. Great looking profile on that one.

I feel like a dummy... looking at it on the computer, I can clearly see "Brighton" on the cutter in your original post...not the case when I was on my phone earlier.

Real nice pipe sir and your correct, the Brighton Plug Cutter isn't quite an antique yet. These were reissued by John Wright Co. in the 1970s and judging by the condition of the paint and lack of any surface wear or rust I'm pretty sure this is one of them.

These were reissued by John Wright Co. in the 1970s and judging by the condition of the paint and lack of any surface wear or rust I'm pretty sure this is one of them. The shop had the cutter priced at $99 but the owner overheard me telling my wife that it was way overpriced and that I had seen bigger cutters priced at $79. He said he could let it go for $60 and that he would give me a good price on the tobacco jar ($10) I'm really pleased with the pipe. The rim is really blackened but there was very little cake in the bowl so I didn't have to ream it. I did the alcohol/cotton ball treatment for a day and now have the bowl packed with coffee grounds. It should be ready to smoke tomorrow.

I hit the jackpot on a cutter like that a few years ago. Very very good condition, and had for a reasonable price as well.

Bingo! Very nice haul.
"A small, cast iron Brighton 3 tobacco plug cutter with a Jester on top."
Could that be Puck as in Peter Pan? I've seen that pose before for that character. Cool machine!

Resurrecting this post instead of creating a new one. First is a Denby Stoneware Tobacco Jar I found in an antique shop in Bristol, Va. (right across the street from Bristol, TN.) While not as nice as the stoneware jar, I thought this plastic and cheap metal one I found in Asheville, NC made a good addition my collection.

We quit going to the antique shops years ago as we can barely walk through our house now. I passed up on a lot of pipe related stuff (and Santa Claus/Christmas items) for the same reason. I still check out all the pipes I see in case I find something really unique or high end for the right price. I need to start thinning out my collection.

I have a box full of the ceramic tobacco jars and 2 boxes of pipes that won't fit anywhere else in the house. We moved here 15 years ago from a larger house and we still haven't unpacked.
