Back to the subject at hand Flatcappiper; collecting a pipe from as many different countries is a great idea.
Personally I'd be looking for a different shape from each for fear that my PAD would spiral out of control were I to look for every shape from each country, lol.
Most of my pipes were bought from e-bay auctions, all of which were bargains. As it turned out, I've more pipes from Italy than from anywhere else. All of them are good to excellent smokers.
Still, I've got at least one pipe from Denmark,France,England,Germany & several from the U.S. (A pipe collection is incomplete without at least one MM cob - I've got 3 & a couple of Dr Grabow pipes)
Many of my German & French pipes were commissioned by the pipe shop & are unbranded apart from the ubiquitous Bruyere Garantie.
A lot of my pipes are between 50-100yo.
Having said that; my German brands include Europe, Dobbelmann, Oldenkott, Detmolder Pfeifen, Vauen, Fumetta DRGM, Heibe, Dandor & UTOR (I've got four sandblasted UTOR Churchwardens)
French pipes; ROPP, Dr Plumb, Chaco, Celtic, Jeantet, Dr Boston & Skippy.
Denmark; I've got a really nice half bent George Jenson & a John Aylesbury.
England; Falcon, Westminster, Imperial, Prince of Wales Kings Linn, Steels (with air-add system)
Italian pipes include two Lorenzo VIP plateauxs, Lindstrom, Brebbia, Savinelli, Roma & my favourite four 80's Venini's.
Ireland; Peterson.
Canada; Brigham.
I'm sure that I've probably missed several brands but that's most of them.
MM's are really good smokers. Once my finances recover I intend to buy a few more, including an MM cob Churchwarden. I'm also intending to buy a few of those aftermarket coloured stems that are made for MM cobs.
Hope you have a great week also.
Edit to add; searching my files has made me realise that I've got more pipes from Germany than anywhere else.
Many are still packed away. Quite a few are brand new antiques that I'm baulking at lighting up.
Though I'm reminded that there's a couple of pipes that are buried away that I forgot to add to my rotation. One being a small 1/4 bent Dr Plumb paneled Bulldog that would be perfect for SPC Plum Pudding & Mississippi River.
