My porcelain pipe is here! They taped every inch of the box and it's a good thing because the postman left it on my step in the rain.

Another gorgeous tasteful pipe! Congratulations!!! I wonder if it's that much different in performance than a clay smoker...

Porcelain being less porous, should probably heat up and cool down faster. On the other hand, that pipe is probably double walled/hollow and may be cooler than a simple clay pipe. I hope it smokes well for you.

I'm thinking that the porcelain holds heat longer, and feels hotter to the touch. I have heard that porcelain pipe attributes can actually enhance the flavors of many pipe tobaccos in that a conduction heating process slowly cooks the tobaccos closer to the sides of the bowl, affording a nuttier toastier flavor profile that one would otherwise not get. Now I'm exciting myself into getting some porcelain pipes - they are so nice looking!!!

I don't know. I would like a clay pipe, the theory is that my great-great-great-grandmother's pipe is probably a clay.

Yes, it is gorgeous, which is why I had to have it. Also, my grandmother really liked the blue delft/white color scheme and had a lot of it around the house while I was growing up, so it brings back very happy memories for me.

Hi Lady Margaret, Good Day to you. I was wondering about the porcelain pipe and how it smoked. I know the old Zenith pipes were double walled and helped cool the smoke. I wanted to compare it to meerschaum which of course is porous but anyhow thanks in advance!

the pipe IS double walled and it smokes well. the inside isn't finished so it is porous. i haven't really compared it to a meerschaum, but i would expect it to be similar. will have to compare them at the smoking lounge on Tuesday

When I started I was interested in a clay like the one in my great3x-grandma's portrait. Still wouldn't mind picking one up. I am kind of interested in clays for the novelty factor.
