I just recieved 5 tins of Bengal Slices White so I had to open a tin to give it a try. When I opened it I saw a blueish green colored specks on top of the block. Is this mold?

I'm no expert and I cant really make out the picture in the mobile version, but I dont think bluish green on tobacco is a good thing

Blueish green? Sounds like mold. No way could it be plume with that color and this stuff is new so its too young. Its hard to tell but if its fuzzy, its scuzzy. And now I need to check all my tins.

If it looks like it has crystalized you are fine. If it looks hairy or fuzzy (McWiggins) then its not good.

I checked the other four tins and they are ok. I'll contact P&C and see what they say.

Contacting them seems to be the right call.

Looks like plume crystals, I don’t see any fuzzy blue/green mold in the picture. Looks similar to what I have on my 1999 Stonehaven, which is plume or sugar crystals. If you see anything fuzzy around those crystals it’s mold, look with a magnifying glass to be safe. Good luck!!!
PS You state you see bluish green....which I can’t in the picture. From your color description it’s more like mold. See if P&C will replace it!!!!

Looks white in the picture. Like Ted, I just opened a couple year old tin of Stonehaven and had the white bits on it. Not fuzzy. I assumed it was plume.

Just got off the phone with Christie at P&C and they determined it was mold. They are sending a replacement tin. I have to say that the customer service at P&C is top notch. Any time I had a problem it was taken care of and some times was given discount codes for my trouble. A great place to deal with.

I've been eyeballing the Bengal White. How is it?Aside from the tin issue. Its good stuff. A tad lighter than Bangal Slices... Black? I guess thats what we have now, Bengal Slices Black or White. lol Anywho, a bit more virginia and oriental up front but not by much and quickly evens out. For the most part and for my taste, its a slightly lighter version of the original.

Lighter version you say...I like the BS regular just fine...not sure I'd like it lighter...but probably not know until I put a lighter to the lighter.
