So, I had 6 tins of Director's Cut that I received on 07/20/2016 that had been in my cellar since then. A little over a month ago, Jim ( JimInks) suggested jarring the tins as these style of tins form HU can only last so long. I pulled out the tins and jarred them up. I have one that is half full and will open this one to smoke some. I have had this Director's Cut for almost 3 years, and have yet to try it. Now I get the opportunity. Anyone else with the paint can style tins from HU should do the same with theirs (on Jim's advice). Thank you (again) Jim!

Were the moisture levels still good?

Were the moisture levels still good? Yeah, still moist (Not Samuel Gawith moist though, not sure how moist it normally comes, but it seems fine to me) No problems there.

Good to hear ... I've got several tins from around the same time. Definitely jar it up soon though Darin. I was trying ot hold out to let it age longer, but it's not worth the risk of it drying out by waiting.

I wonder if one could put the whole tin in a food saver vacuum bag so it doesnt have to be opened.

I found one more tin of Director's Cut in my cellar (see my thread on finding tobacco you didn't remember having....). I jarred this one too, and feeling the tobacco again, it is definitely more on the moist side, but still not SG moist. After 3 years, the seals were still good and the moisture was still good. I like the idea of vacuum sealed bags in the original tins, but I didn't think of it before reading your posts Baboo and McWiggins. Ah well...

That's good to know. I have none of that tobacco, but I do have a 100g tin of ilsteads own which is in that 'paint can' type tin. I may need to jar it.

...you can never go wrong with jarring... the square tins have failed on me many times over the years, not much with the round ones... but either way... putting 'em in a good jar is never a bad idea...

I don't believe that HU tobacco is sold in the USA. Any recommendation on where to purchase it?

I ordered my from Germany! I don’t think it’s sold here. If I recall correctly, someone here on the patch last year? Was actually trying to put together an order and then would send it out to the respective participants. I don’t recall if it ever happened or not

Unfortunately, HU Tobacco is not available for sale through USA retailers, anywhere. The direct HU site (in my last post)is the best place to order through if you are in the USA.

There were some website and delivery time issues that were eventually resolved. Group buy is the best way to go and patience is required.

Depending on the buy-in, I might be down. I haven't tried any HU stuff.

Holy moly- Does anyone want to take the lead here? You would need to gather the funds from everyone and then divide and ship when it arrives. First, We would need to select a number of tobaccos, figure out the cost for the tobaccos in Euros to Dollars, shipping costs etc. also we pay via PayPal, so there’s that cost to add in . So what brave soul is willing to do this?

You graciously declined last time, but I still say the organizer should get a bonus tobacco share for the effort.
