This is what I intend to build in a few years, time and money permitting. 1964 Ford Fairlane. I have never had a true classic, always practical cars. I am going to enjoy at least one build. Any of you have a classic or exotic car to show off? Or like me, one you desire?

That's a beauty! I've always liked the 1970 Chevelle SS in "Racing Green":

1947 Series 62 Cadillac Convertible. Something about the lines of this car. Classic. My birthday is in August, so you guys have plenty of time to get the money together.

My MGB. Built in December 1976. A fun drive. I just passed 70,000 miles. Not bad for a 40 year-old car.

Had a couple of friends with MGBs in high school. I always liked those. Looks like yours has been very well cared for, John. Had another friend who had both a Mini Cooper S and a TR-5 that he had done full restorations on. The British cars were a lot of fun back then. The Mini was a sticky little go-cart of a car. The cornering was incredible.

Yeah, he sold a Lamborghini Espada and bought this car. He got $475,000 for the Espada. 2 years later the Espada was worth close to $2 million. The car market is that crazy. The oher cars in that building are Ferarri's, Porsche's and a BMW M5.

Mine is something rather off the wall...I want a 67 Plymouth Belvedere police special just like the car on "Adam-12" or 1970 Matador that was also used. I would also like to have a Karmann Ghia as well.. See i told you all my cars are off the wall!!

I have a 73 Ford F100 with 3 on the tree, a 74 Ford van and something that's a real chick magnet.... A 72 Vega Wagon! (4 cy). I also have an 86 Disel Jetta but I don't really consider that one a classic.

Randy, my first car was a '73 Vega wagon. Man, you really sit on the ground in those. I thought I had a sports car. Engine blown at 140K. None of the salvage yards would take it in my small college town, not even when I offered to pay $75. I pulled the plates, wheels and stereo and abandoned it in front of someone's residence who had poorly treated my future wife. Heehee!

Don, I had 3 Vega's as a young dude. Most guys that go thru a mid-life crises go out and buy a hopped-up expensive sports car... I bought myself another Vega!

A guy I worked with had a Vega. At about 90,000 miles we went over a railroad crossing and the chasis broke in half. They tended to do that at the time.

Truth be told- I got my first Vega in '78. I took the engine out and had steel sleeves put in the cylinders (and had the block shaved). I also had the head shaved. When I got it back I was getting 38 mpg. I totaled that car which was easy to do. Basically if your side mirror fell off the insurance companies would total it.. ! So, I bought another for about $50.00 and transferred the "good" engine to the new car. That one got totaled so I got myself a 3rd Vega and transferred the engine yet again. The 3rd Vega was a wagon. I took it all over the U.S. one summer on a 4 week vacation with my girlfriend.
The Vega has an interesting history. It was the first car that used an electrostatic paint method (the car was charged "negative" and it was dipped into a vat of positively charged paint) It was also the first car line to use robots in car assembly. It was probably also the first car that started burning 1 quart of oil per day before obtaining 50K in mileage.

Mine had the worst brakes and manual transmission I have ever had on a car. But it was mine.
