I periodically see mentions made to the affect of I'll just get a PO Box. Yes you can do that with the proviso you furnish proof to the Post Office of residency. A utility bill stating your street address is most common. Rental or Lease receipts don't qualify. The days of just popping in and renting a PO Box are gone, though I suppose a box rental at a commercial maildrop might be a possibility.

You can still get a commercial box rental in any place you like. It cannot be anonymous, though. The Patriot Act requires commercial mail drops/forwarders to know who their customers are.

I use a PO Box. Right about having to prove you live at a local address. I used too use a box for business, and right again about not having to prove. Though that was a while ago,.
